@multiple.scoregasms that's awesome mate and really helpful. I've got Cam so at some point will need to figure out the best option, this is a great platform to go from.

Before I chuck my 2 cents in though, Im a bit confused about what you are meaning regarding your Cook scenario. Specifically, when you say cook can be easily replaced in round 16, then it seems to me like its not apples and oranges when comparing to the other scenarios (if I am reading it correctly)? Wouldn't it be better to leave that extra bit out so it is a straight Cam vs Cam to Cook, Cam to Friend, Cam to McInnes comparison?

Edit: and you've done the same with Pritchard. I gotta think about this more I guess, but it would seem the numbers get inflated for both the Cook and Pritchard scenarios as a result.

Could you do a Smith/Pritchard comparison please.

Now that is one I didn't think of. Scores look on the way up so I'll use his 3 game average of 45. Pritchard plays 12/13/14/15/18. Assuming 45 in each. Pritchard gives 135 between 12 and 15 which is about 24 points over Smith. Gives another 45 over Smith in round 15 taking the total to 69. Misses the easy to cover round 16 where you will have another 40 scorer slot in so only lose 22 to Smith there taking us to 47. Scores another 45 in 17 where Smith scores 63 taking the advantage to 29. Scores another 45 in 18 where smith is unavailable bringing the total advantage over Smith to 74 points which is slightly better than Friend but still less than Cook and McInnes. The upside is that his scores are improving weekly and he doesn't require anyone to be selected for Origin to post these scores(like Friend and Cook do)

You would, but things are put in perspective a bit when you take into account he only played 46 minutes. That's about 15 minutes or so less than average. My back of the envelope calculations have him scoring at better than his ave points per minute yesterday even if you take of the points he scored in scoring that try.

You are right R&T he did avg better..
I'm glad he didn't get a monster score, as he is one of my trade targets pre origin

Basically since Cook is scoring in rounds 12/15/18/19 when most coaches won't have a full 17 you get the full benefit of his scores. The round's he misses are easy to cover as most coaches will have more than 17 players in that round. So you aren't taking a 0 when Cook doesn't play as you can replace him with someone else

Haha, I was a bit gutted (as a Gallen owner in VSDT), but at this same time perhaps long term there is some upside with Gallen getting some rest? Clutching at straws maybe cause think I would have taken the extra 20 points over the rest Smile

Ah I see mate, thanks for the clarification. So roll with your numbers so long as your 2nd hooker is playing that round AND you have a full 17. Right?

Im gonna take a much closer look at what you've laid out later today when I have the time. Really useful but need to get my head around it all, and it seems it is in part dependent on who your 2nd hooker is too.

If you pair Pritchard and Cook then you run into a bit of trouble in 16 needing to take an auto but aside from that every other hooker pairs well with one of them. As long as you have another 40 point scorer floating around to come in for that round those numbers work out alright. Most of us have a few extra reserve choices floating around

Coote may play in the halves and keep Ponga at the back

I've got ET, Idris and Guth to go. Cotric and RTS are the only players I have that haven't scored 50+ and yet I'm not even close to 1000 points. Currently on 871.
    Last year when I scored my first ever 1K I had 3 40+'s, a 34 and a 29. This game don't make no sense.

You still very well could get there with those 3 left to play.

Well done on the dissecting of the HOK VS HOK scenario.

Here's an additional thought. One of the advantages of trading Smith out over the origin period for a cheaper Hooker is the extra money you can use to bring in a bye friendly gun in another position to get those extra points...

    Very nice read MS.
I will need to look back over my trades last year but think I held smith due to not having the trades to play with them. Seemed to work alright but there was a lot of talk with Smith not backing up etc

This year I have Smith/McInnes which I started with so will have to sit down and see this looks regarding byes.

Then how would you buy CS9 back after the origin? Would involve more trades I guess.

Could be handy for people saving up on trades.
