All you Black Widow owners out there (Hopefully I will be one soon) Aubo is starting for the Chooks today so all good there. Was going to trade Sione for him for the byes but then Sione pulls this performance out.
One way or the other I'm getting him in though.

I really wish we would adjust to the tactic teams are using against us. Split Boyd and Paulo and pair them with a more mobile prop (I don't care who, Bateman, Soli, Tarps etc). Set up a few plays with a FB trailing back on the inside rather than always running the same play with Wighton out the back of some dummy runners... its all just a bit predictable and once we lose our starting prop combination well... blegh.

That and holding us down in the ruck as long as you can (even if you concede penalties) seems to work. Not sure what it is, frustration, immaturity, lack of creativity etc. but we wind up playing like park footballers and its an ugly site.
they dont seem to like playing that "grinding" game style, teams are going to be watching this game keenly and mimicing it from now on you'd think (like in the old days when teams would kick it dead in goal rather than letting the teams with "dangerous" backs have a chance to kick return). Once 1 team starts they will all get on board

i like the idea of aubs as well. but i have bodene and smats already. with all 3 of these centre covering backrowers, you increase your chance of one screwing you over if an injury in the backline happens.
considering offloading bodene because of this

I'm tempted to get Sione this week to shore up my ctrs. He's already exceeded his b/e at half time.

I've been considering DWalker to Aubs for byes for a while. But then Walker scores 80+ and Aubs gets benched.
Now Aubs is starting and Walker is crap again. I'm scared, but I might still do the trade before round 12. Maybe?

benched aubs to npr for moga. Now I am contemplating putting the R on him instead of JWH

I think teams will have already seen the success manly had against us with it and are mimicking it already. But yeah completely agree, its like the very thought of grinding makes them sick and they turn to pus.Showbags wrote:

As an aside, if my router loses connection one more time this half I'm going to absolutely lose it. Think i got to watch about 15min of that last half.

Good to hear JSaif sounds like he'll be ok. Pretty rough thing for a mum to see on mothers day.

Yep good shout, amazing what they can do when they play simple footy instead of overthinking/overplaying things.Johnny B Goode wrote:WHITEHEAD!!! The things that happen when Raiders just play it straight

That was a huge effort from DSaif, if only you could have any confidence at all in him getting those kind of minutes regularly.
