The way I see it if you're other hooker isn't a gun (like me with Cook), trading Smith isn't two extra trades, it's one. I mean I will eventually be trading Cook unless Farah does his ACL. Trading Smith to say McInnes and then Cook to Smith is only one more trade than I will have to do anyway. Make sense.
So many variables I didn't even take into account like what you mentioned only using one extra trade, potential price changes and each players likelyhood of busting a big score and throwing the calculations out

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 40
CHN has a BE of 35.
JFH looks to be out for 1-2 rounds, meaning CHN is likely to be starting again, in which he averages over 50 (when starting).
Considering most of us have a combination of Tommy Turbo, Norman, Hayne, Ponga etc to deal with, why are so many looking to trade CHN out?

I'm going Pritchard purely because he has the best byes which are also easily coverablemultiple.scoregasms wrote:

I've got Norman and TTurbo sidelined. My league doesn't appear to play during the Bye weeks so that's not a concern for me. I'm just wondering who I should swap them for? I was thinking C.Walker for Norman and either Gutherson or Hopoate for TTurbo - does that sound good? It's my first season doing fantasy so any help would be much appreciated!
It can depend on other things going on in your team but this is what someone with more experience than me is thinking,

Yeah for me I think it only works if you're trading in a keeper. In terms of price rises, I hope Cook can also make some money. If he does well in rounds 12, 15, 18 when (hopefully) Farah out, and has byes 13 and 16 just needs to not completely stink it up in 14 and 17

As well as Smith playing 4 games from 8 from Round 12 to 19 this year (as opposed to other years where Storms byes were on Origin weeks and he missed 3) a big consideration is that Melbourne's Round 13 game is less than 48 hours after Origin One. I don't see Smith playing anything like 80, if at all - it's only against Newcastle for one thing, for another it'll be a great chance to give Brandon Smith good time before he has to play Rounds 15/18.
So Smith plays somewhere between 3 and 4 games over Bye period while all other hookers play 6.
My plan (current hookers Smith and Brailey) is to trade Smith to Jake Friend before Round 12, then trade Brailey to McInnes (or possibly Peats) before Round 13. Then I'll have at least one decent hooker for every round, and after Round 19 can keep whichever one is looking best and upgrade the other one back to Smith for the run home. It uses three trades, but that doesn't seem unreasonable - as long as you're confident of having the cash to bring Smith back in.

I'm not going to trade Smith out. The primo No.1 HOK in the game in a position where few players have averaged over 50. McInnes went through a string of 40's and Macca could dip if Niko takes minutes off him when Hunt returns.

Eh i hear what you're saying but I'd say a lot of people have been running Brailey in their team without him featuring in the 17 (I haven't used him most weeks) so i don't see how he would be any different.Milchcow wrote:
Brandon Smith is not a good choice, even if he is guaranteed 80 minutes in rounds 15 and 18
Because he will be getting approx 0 minutes in the other weeks around origin, and you'd lose a valuable hooking spot for the week you are carrying him without him playing

Yep. Will be interesting to see what Smith does in rd 13. Also making the trade in rd 12 or 13 instead of waiting till round 15 frees up around 100k for your other planned trades

My hookers are currently Smith & Cook. Smith will become Friend in round 12 & Cook will become McInnes in round 13. These moves aren't set in stone because it will depend on form.

Early doors not missing Munster again this week and could easily make my second trade unaffordable if I wait

Will these be your final two hookers or will you buy Smith back?
