RTS is a keeper in my books. All WFB scores are up and down. If you trade hayne how much coin does that give you? Enough to upgrade someone else to a gun.

Edwards is unproven at fullback in the nrl and panthers have been average at best plus have a tough draw coming up. He doesnt look like a big tackle buster to me so dont know where his points will come from?

Different story if he was $138. Happy to be proven wrong tho!

Yeah I have pencilled him in as a keeper (my 3rd wfb), I can see the warriors hitting form and RTS busting out some scores.

If he is an upgrade it will be a luxury. I have 6 upgrades to make across the 17 before RTS goes.

Am after some help here. I'm pretty happy with my team. Looking to try and hold TTurbo. Plenty of trades and 181k in the bank. Let me know your thoughts. Team set for this week hence not starting a few good players.

    C.Smith: Kpritch
    J.Graham, Brown: Jwal G.Fai
A.Elliot, Pimple, Yates: Surgess, Crichton, PG13
    SJ, Frawly; Arey, Field
    Smat, Cotric; TTurbo, Fuimaono
    RTS, Hayne, Slater; Abbey, Calker

Yeah you're looking pretty sweet but I would be tempted to bring in Vaughan for Brown. You're covered at wfb but maybe Hayne to Tedesco if you're large bank balance will allow unless you're holding it to bring in a gun like Fifita, Pearce. etc.

Yes but I have CWalker in my HLFs already and wanted another DPP half so I could swap them if need be. Is it worth having that flexibility?

    I need some emotional support!

I had that trade slated for this week because of Brailey's bye and I thought Segey was due back pretty soon.. upgrading Kodi has taken priority though and according to the casualty ward, Segey isn't due back until Rd 18, so I think I'm gonna hold off and do Lamb to Munster next week.

Solid upgrade though, especially for the bonus points this week. Brailey's put out a couple of sub-30s without Segey and McInn pretty much tackles his way to 50 and will go large with attacking stats.

As for the origin discussion, I'm pretty over it too.

I guess being a kid in the 90's made the games more meaningful or something, the Kangaroo tours and ANZAC tests kinda meant something to me then too.

But plenty of our elders were into it back then too, so it's not just growing up.

The steps the NRL has taken to make the game more "family-friendly" has gradually eroded the interest, similar to the WWE's PG move. Shoulder charges outlawed, harsher penalties for fighting.. slapping.. I don't particularly get off on seeing people getting wiped out these days anyway though.. even a Darius Boy.. hmm no scratch that, even a Greg In.. hmm no that would be fine too.. Most players I have compassion for regardless of the colour they wear.

In the end, it's all about the money. NBA and NFL All Star games are a fucking joke because the teams paying their superstars 20-30m a year don't want a player injured in some joke game.

The NRL is constantly trying to increase female viewership with a bunch of token offerings every year and rule changes to make the game softer, and yet guys like Greg Bird, Greg Ingles, Blake Ferguson etc. are routinely selected to represent the state and country..

The dickheads can't even kickoff at the scheduled time because of the $$$ they get from those extra 15-20 minutes of bullshit ads.. Nevermind that everyone wanders off, doesn't watch the ads, and misses the first 10 mins, hell even the entire first half sometimes..

To be fair, they do kick off at their scheduled time, they just don't advertise the "true" kick off time, as they want as many people to sit down at the time they advertise. To be honest, while it is a little annoying, its been going on forever, and I don't really care.

Ad breaks during games are a killer. I don't know if ch 9 still do that, Foxtel definitely don't.

Really? I don't remember last time it kicked off closer to 10 than 1030. It's such a ridiculous time on a "school night". Huge Kiwi audience. I used to watch it round at my mates when at school in the 90's. Now can't even watch at the pub it's so late

I mean the listed "kick off time" and the time it actually kicks off. The NRL know to the minute what time the game will actually kick off.

At some stage in the past 10 years ch 9 decided that they must still have ACA in prime time on origin nights. Previously ACA would not be shown on origin nights so that the origin coverage could start at 7pm (AU time). Now the coverage starts at 7:30, everything got pushed back..

Actually thinking back i think they used to show ACA after the origin game.

The kickoff times are confusing for all the regular season games too, but just as it pertains to Origin..

I remember as a kid, coverage starting at 7:30-7:35, kickoff 7:55.. then I think it was pushed to 8, which is fine, nice round number so you don't miss the first 5 mins after wandering off..

So we got smart and tuned in just before 8.. so the NRL one-ups it and shifts kickoff to 8:15.

If they kickoff before 8:15 tonight, I'll be surprised. Expecting it to be later than that by now.

Maybe I'm anti-marketing, especially when I could shit 80% of ads on a bad day and it's infuriating to think that multiple people are involved in the exercise of creating and filming an ad and this is all they could come up with.

I just want to watch a fkn game of footy aye. There's plenty of space for billboards, logos on jerseys, fkn painted grass to advertise your shit. Not a fan of the NRL deceiving it's consumers for the extra bullshit. And yeah Nine can't wait to cut to an adbreak during any goal kick or scrums.

RTS is only a keeper due to his high ownership % and low initial buying price, not to mention the absence of someone consistent in the position for same price.

As I write this I think, Teddy, Nofo, Munster, Turbo, Rapana, Dugan, Gordon, Cwalker are all much better, and id pick any of those over RTS in a heart beat.

If you took out that concussion affected 4 points from RTS's score, what would his average be? I mean I was thinking he's a sell but given he's averaging close to 40 with two single digit scores then he's scoring like a keeper at WFB.

Fellow Smith owners, are you captaining him this week if he pulls up from Origin??? Took a look at that NRL live chat and they're barely entertaining the idea of captaining anyone other than Smith.

I don't doubt he'll back up and play close to the 80 but even for him, 2 days after Origin is a big ask. I'm considering Mannering or McInnes instead just for this week.

With Cleary, Rapana and Tedesco so close in price, which would you bring into your final 17?

I already own Croker, BJ and Whitehead so hesitant to go Rapana.

RTS is a sell if you can get better bye coverage. Last game was against a depleted Broncos. The 2 games before may happen again down the line

Origin players have stated in the past that they actually prefer to play as close to after origin as their bodies feel fine. It's when they play on say a Sunday that their bodies start to feel the bumps & bruises. Plus these athletes are extremely fit so 2 games in a week doesn't faze them. Smith will play & will play close to 80 minutes. If the Storm are winning by a big margin then he'll probably get an early shower.
