2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 52 - Fantasy talk in here

The only problem I have with the loophole, is that it rewards poor bye planning. You must have 17 or less. Players who have planned well get punished.

I know what you are saying but I disagree. If you look at it another way it rewards perfect bye planning. If you can nail it so your players are equally dispersed across 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, and 19. In theory you could loophole for most if not all of those rounds. Bit harder in NRL.com, but that's roughly where I am at in VTSD. Bye round numbers are/were something along the lines of 16, 17, 15, 16, 15, 17 for those rounds. At this stage im in a position where I can loophole for all 6 of those rounds.

I'm thinking Slater to Edwards leaves me 8 trades left.
Walker to Pearce Round 20.

Don't see why you want more than 17 in a major bye round. You don't get extra points for depth and it would leave you severely short in the other bye rounds

Agree R&T, I've deliberately planned it this way by giving myself the most amount of players I can realistically get in the major bye rounds whilst giving myself a chance of getting 17 for the minor byes.

Pre trades this week, I am sitting with 17 if Scott happens to play, who will be an AE..
McInnes Brailey
Mcguire Graham Yates
JDB Gallen Taumalolo ET
Johnson
SMAT Hayne Scott
Tedesco RTS Munster Edwards
NPRs: Crichton Surgess Reynolds Musgrove Laybutt Frown Fuimaono Abbey
12 trades and 491k
Obvious trade targets are Fifita and Taupau straight in instead of Yates, or Tommy Trbo (but I feel like he can wait).
I feel like Musgrove is potentially a slightly better hold than Yates for round 18, just not sure though. I guess Surgess late withdrawal may have benefitted his mins. Actually just remembered, Buhrer potentially returning for Knights may bump Yates back.

Screw that guy.
Had him on VC most of the week before thinking I'd just play it safe and try consolidate my position and VC'd Surgess.
Suffice to say, my position is gone

On PC? Could I suggest Snipping tool instead of three screenshots and showing everyone your dirty browsing choices?

Lots of Rabbits and Eels missing this week for me:
Surgess, Crichton, Walker, Norman, Brown... lot of cash sitting on the pine... gonna have a low scoring week this time around and tumble back down the rankings.

I'd ignore all the dots until after Tuesday teamlists.

McInnes, Brailey
Vaughan, Fifita, Graham, Yates,
JDB, Crichton, Surgess, Gallen, Merrin, Elliot
Johnson, Munster, Walker, Laybutt,
Cotric, Hayne, Fuimaona, Scott,
RTS, Holmes, Edwards, Hawkins, Abbey
10 trades, 222k ITB.
Brailey is worrying me but it's not ideal timing to bring back in Smith. I'd need to cash in someone to get there also.
At this stage - Brailey > Smith : Yates > Nuff
Leaving $150k in the back and 8 trades.
Thoughts??

Kelly to Turbo and Semi to Edwards seem like good trades? Or spend all my cash and get Tedesco instead of Edwards?

SI wrote:I was choosing up till now to not go on a spiel about the loophole. Mulvy did a fine job in the previous thread of explaining why it is a legitimate part of the game. His thoughts are identical to mine.
The rule that every non-looper refers to "There is no longer the ability to take advantage of the 'Captain's Loophole'", is a remnant of when they changed the ACTUAL loophole 3 years ago. Fanhub have left this bit of text in for the last 3 seasons. IT IS NOT NEW THIS YEAR. They haven't changed anything this year, nor last year. They actually wrote that at the start of 2015 when they closed the actual loophole-that is, back when you could take the C off your Captain during a round and place it on an NPR to get your VC score under pretty much any circumstances. THAT WAS THE CAPTAINS LOOPHOLE, not what is being done now.
What we are doing now is NOT the Captain's Loopole, it is just called that as it developed out of the CAPTAIN'S LOOPOLE from 2014.
The very next line in the rules is that 'a Captain can be substituted out during a game, but no other player can be made Captain. In that case the Vice Captain will be awarded double points.' That is what we are doing NOW, it is IN THE RULES, and everyone is both aware of it and able to do it.
The game is designed so that you can sub your captain out-it is written there in black and white. Just like the game is desiged so you can do DPP trades, just like the game is desiged to have price rises and drops, so too is the game designed so that you can sub your Captain out to get double points for your Vice Captain if you choose to.
tl;dr?
The Captain's Loophole WAS closed in 2015. What we are doing now is NOT actually the Captain's Loophole-it is a legitimate mechanism of the game that is explained in the rules.
FanHub have created all this animosity by leaving that "we have closed the loophole" text in there from 2015. Once people realise that the Captain's Loophole was actually something else that has actually been closed by locking the C and VC than maybe we will see peace in our time?
Brilliant post SI. Great detective work.

Its a strange one as this Mortimer played really well when he came on but he's also leaving the club after this game. It may just depend on game situation as to what mins they share.

Moved up 111 spots to 141st with 844. Saw some huge scores this week so I'm surprised I moved up that much.
