Having lots of money won't change that view.
WTF is this comment. Clown. During NRL suicide and bullying week too.
I know 2 such parents and they are and we're devastated.
Moderator around?

I think you might have interpreted that in a way that was not intended. He's talking about the parent committing suicide, not the kids.

filthridden wrote:So I was doing some playing around yesterday and this is the top 17 on total points for the year so far before last night's game:
McInnes (McCulloch)
Tolman, Vaughan
Gallen, Crichton, Taumalolo (JDB, Mannering, Surgess)
Johnson, Cleary
T-Turbo, Roberts
Rapana, Walker, Nofoaluma
18-21: JTurbo, DCE, Fifita, Cam Smith
If you had captained Gallen every round you'd be sitting on 15,894 without using any trades and in 23rd overall.
Obvs this team is impossible but you could put Bailey instead of McCulloch... Felise instead of Surgess and maybe a few others (Cotric and Moga in your centres?) and you could easily be in the top 100 without making any changes to your team all year.
Then if you could've picked the right 18-25, switch them in and out when needed, pick the right captain each week.... who needs trades?
That would've been absolute torture not having to trade.
I pick a shit team on purpose just so I can trade

Knowing a few people who have been through some pretty bad depression - its not something you can just "fix", like some seem to think ("oh harden up" etc). Those I do know absolutely wish they could stop feeling the way they do but just cannot control it. It really sucks. They just end up thinking death is the only way to stop feeling the way they do and that is such a sad thing.

Glad I'm not the only person with this game plan.

Spot on MTB
Back in the days when I was managing a team of jockeys, one of the boys suffered depression. Really is one of the worst mental and emotional illnesses and sad to see. It's not an overall character flaw or weakness or Worse yet decision... it's bloody horrible disease to see someone battle

Haha all good bro! On a lighter note, it absolutely reads that way too, to the extent that I had a bit of a chuckle!

I may not have expressed myself clearly.
I was specifically thinking of Kurt Cobain's suicide, where he said of his daughter "for her life will be so much happier without me."
I do not agree with such thoughts, merely pointing out that such thoughts exist.
It must be terrible to be in a position where you think your family and loved ones would not miss you, for it is almost never true. I do not wish such feelings upon anyone.

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 59
anyone risking ARey?
If he is out my trades are
SJ to DCE
ARey to Teddy via Munster
If he plays on then I'd do just 1 trade
SJ to Pearce.

I read what you wrote and was shocked, but that makes more sense. I think it was the wording that threw me.

Just came at a time I'm reading this page when I'm watching the Kelly family story on the Footy show (its on before Friday night football in the U.K.), talking about raising awareness. Now aware this whole discussion stemmed from some loose opinions vis a vis Chester

For me it wasn't so much that I didn't think my family/friends would miss me, in fact I knew they would. I did on occasion think that the lives of a couple people close to me might be better (long run) without me.
The trouble is you are just so low and feel so much in a hole, that you can't really see a way out, and therefore all your thoughts are clouded by negativity and desperation. You want a better life for yourself, and in my case more so for the people close to me. Therefore suicide can feel like a feasible way to change things.
Of course it is not the right option, and of course there are ways to get your self out of that hole. But at the time its an incredibly difficult place to be in and make the right decisions.

I think that it's great that this forum isn't just fantasy nrl related. It's what keeps it real.

Yep. Certainly what creates the community. Manyba drunken night in this place back in the day. Especially this time of the year when the fantasy premier league has opened and people have 0 to 3 trades

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 59
I've traded Pearce in for SJ but thinking about reversing it and not trading this week. It's lets me see how Pearce goes in his first game back after origin and without Friend. It also gives me a chance to see if there is any substance to the Surgess rumour and whether I'll need to save a trade for him.
I can cover SJ with Munster this week but it means I'll be a bit weaker in the backs by having to play RTS.
Thoughts anyone?

Unless you are waiting on SJ's potential return in rd 24 I would trade him out this week. That is a lot of coin to have sitting there not scoring any points. Pearce has consistently scored well this year and should do so again this week up against the Knights. I would lock in the SJ to Pearce trade.
