Whats the newbies guide to price changes...?

Price changes are based on transfers in/out and not performance.

Get X amount of net transfers in and go up 0.1m

If your total ownership drops Y% then you lose 0.1m

Price changes happen every day once the season starts.
Also, there is no rolling lockout, but you can always trade, even if the round has started. If you do, the transfer won't take effect until the next week. So you can trade someone out during a round, their score will still count for you, even if you traded them or before they played.

Google "crack the code fpl" for a more detailed run down.

When you sell a player, you only get half the profits.
Eg if you buy for 6.0, and they gain 0.4 to be worth 6.4 then if you sell him, you only get 6.2 for him.

Due to this, and more accurate initial pricing, the concept of "cash cow" like in NRL fantasy does not really exist.
You still want undervalued players, but you don't really buy players for the sole purpose of making money.

    fantasyfootballscout.co.uk is a good resource.

Jesus. So is an "undervalued" player one with a high cost:score ratio who would be owned by every man and his dog or a mid level guy with low %age ownership?

Good rundown. I used fantasyfootballscout too. One thing I learnt last season, which seemed to help is as soon as someone gets injured, TRADE THEM OUT ASAP! Bit hard for us due to time differences etc, but you need to get in before everyone else does or you cop the price drop. Don't wait until the next week to move them on.

If you want to try to increase the value of your team, you should try to:

1/ trade EARLY in the week if you are BUYING a player who is about to RISE in price, and/or if you are SELLING a player who is about to DROP in price

2/ trade LATE in the week if you are BUYING a player who is going to DROP in price, and/or if you are SELLING a player who is going to RISE in price.

NB: Player prices rise and fall based on the net popularity (trades IN v trades OUT) of players, and have nothing to do directly with the players' actual scores.

Just sub a defender for a forward and it will change automatically. Found that after about 10min of random clicking.

As noted just sub who you want in and will change itself.

Also note that you get to rank your subs in this comp. Put your best sub on the left, and your worst sub on the right and if anyone doesn't play it will sub them in, in the order you choose. (has to result in a valid formation though, can't play 2-5-3)

Later in the season keep an eye out for double game weeks - where some teams play twice (and some teams don't lay at all) due to games being rescheduled for FA Cup/other reasons.
Good idea when choosing captain if you have players who get to play twice in a week.

Your midfield looks really weak mate RLC won't score many, Iborra same and Snodgrass on the outer at West Ham! Salah quality shout and good strike force, kompany ain't a lock to start for city either

Kane has had summer tournaments in the last 2 seasons leading up to GW1. Nothing this season so he should be fresh and going for another golden boot

If you can find a cheap (6.5 or under for Mids and forwards, 5.0 or under for defenders) player who is consistently scoring more than just the 2 points for playing a match then you want to get them.

eg - Capoue from Watford started last year on fire and was very cheap. You want to identify whoever is going to be this years breakout star and tget them in quick before they rise in price too quickly. Only a handful of players are likely to jump a lot in price in the first month and you want to get as many of them as you can.

With ownership%, you want to be careful going too much into POD territory for your cheapies. As price falls are based on transfers out as a percentage of ownership, the less people who own your player the easier it is for them to fall in price.

EG if only 1000 people own your 4.0 defender, and a 10% price drop sees them lose a point, only 100 people have to lose faith before he goes to 3.9 and you need cash to upgrade him.
If 5000 people have him then you need 500 people to trade him out before a price drop. So there is a bit of safety in numbers, especially for risky cheap picks who people might ditch if they think they've backed the wrong horse.

Top 10k is very impressive in a field of about 5 million.

As I understand it the teams are finalised 1 hour before kick off, is there a good site for late mail?

First time doing this. Know a fair bit about EPL but nothing about tactics for this particular competition.

Any comments on following team? Too stacked in defence or short on bench?

    Forster (Begovic)
    Cahill, Luiz, Kolasinec, Monreal (Rangel)
De Bruyne, Zaha, Pogba, Redmond (Loftus-Cheek)
    Lacazette, Jesus (Abraham)

I think Rangel is out or something.

That's all I can really comment on, we have 5 common players

You have 4 defenders from 2 teams which is never a good tactic.
Chelsea have shit early fixtures and you have 2 of their defenders.
You will play Forster every week for the first 2 months at least so you're spending an extra 0.5 on your backup keeper then needed.
Rangel won't get a look in unless there's injuries
