Watching the footy all year the one thing among many that has annoyed me is the play the ball. It has now acceptable to just roll the ball back without the ball even touching the foot & it has become like touch football. No one even plays the ball correctly. Watch any game & probably 80% of play the balls are illegal plays & I don't know why refs don't crack down on it. I get it that teams are wanting to get quick play the balls to get the roll going but these joke play the balls should be clamped down on for next year. Maybe for the finals the refs issue an edict to all the 8 clubs that they won't put up with it & will start penalising teams.

It's been allowed to go on for so long I doubt they have any plans to do anything about it.

Fifita is a good example, I don't think I've ever seen him play the ball correctly.

You know what, I really don't mind that they don't play it with their foot. I makes no difference whether it's rolled with the hand or with the foot. I'd rather see the game continue on rather than a penalty for not playing the ball correctly. The more the game flows the better it is for mine.

May be you should change the NRL FF logo to the Fijian RL logo on the banner

Yeah it's one of those things they've cracked down on for 2-3 weeks multiple times in the past.. then it just leads to slower games and inconsistent penalties in crucial situations and lots of noise from fans, so it's not worth the headache of policing constantly.

Quick play-the-balls can be vital, but that's on the defenders to be set. If teams/players are blatantly not playing it properly, then captains should get in the refs ear.. but they'd probably rather get quick play-the-balls for themselves than have them scrutinised too much.

For mine too.

Not so worried about not using the foot, but please at least play the fucking thing square!

What gives me the shits is when a player actually attempts to play it properly and the ball sort of gets stuck and goes no where and the ref calls a knock on yet old.mate can tunnel it through his legs to the hooker and its play on.

Not exactly encouraging players to play it preoperly.

I don't remember SJ hitting the ton, but not sure either. Don't forget Ryan James last year too.

Yeah, that's the one. Surgess also hit a 96 in that game without any attacking stats if I remember rightly. Beast of a game that one.

Hopefully we can add another name to the list this weekend. Or maybe someone like Rapa doing it again? Hint hint, nudge nudge!!

Heard some talk on the radio last weekend on how Rapana should be pronounced. Hard to reproduce in print but it isn't pronounced as Rapana.
Mat Elliot suggests it be pronounced how his mum would say it. How's that then??

SJ did the year before last.. think it was something like 100, then 90+, then broken leg. Not sure if he jagged one last year though.

Munster was another from last year to go along with James.. Thought Burgers cracked it in updates but could be wrong. Forgot about Scott's. Rapana and Semi maybe last year too? Friend?
