I want to see what the Titans pack looks like when Wallace comes back before grabbing Arrow.
Entirely possible he is going to be a round 3 trade in, but just don't quite trust him right now.
Have gone 1 non-player in Zac Lomax, for DPP and potential loophole purposes, plus he might get a run later in the season.
This is, I think, why I like (and why I do better at) DT compared to NRL fantasy, it's more forgiving.
With the three week time period before prices change, it means you can look at the likes of Arrow from the sidelines without it costing you (too much) if he goes gang busters.
One of my strategies this season is along these lines, if they are not in my starting 17, and I am uncertain about their longer term outlooks, I will tend to hold off to see how they go. Rochow fits this bill nicely. If I picked him up from the beginning I wouldn't be starting him (so not grabbing him won't mean I miss out on his points), so Im hoping by week 3 his outlook is clearer, if he bombs then I saved my self a trade (and likely freed up that extra coin initially for my starting group) and if he goes nuts, I can grab him without it costing me (other than the trades).
Arrow for me is in a slightly different basket as if I were to take him from round 1 I'd be starting him too. So if he goes crazy and I don't have him, then I lose the points as well as the trade to get him in before round 3. But at least it wouldn't cost me in the pocket still.
In terms of my team, Im planning on finalising that in a few hours when the kids are in bed
but Im tending towards a Smith-less team and running with Friend.
For me what's tricky is the lack of depth in half, WFB, and C in terms of cheapies. It means your hand is forced somewhat with who you put in there and if you want bottom dollar guys you have to take a punt on a non-starter. Either than or you go with the likes of Carty (halves) Hiku (WFB), and for C there actually doesn't appear to be anyone outside of Isaako that's cheap and starting. So if you want to go with cheap starters, you end up having to go quite a bit above the bottom $ guys, using potentially $200k or so that could otherwise go into your starting 17 (which is the equivalent of ~20 points per round). So tough decisions there!! Im likely to go with at least one (bottom $) non-starter and hopefully get lucky that they come in later - for the byes would be ideal
Outside of that my other struggles have just been deciding how to prioritise the value guys - Tohu, Whitehead, Merrin etc, the list goes on, and balancing the risk that going with too many of them at the outset might hurt in the long run: If you don't end up picking enough guns from the start it becomes nearly impossible to field the "all-gun" side by round 20 or so. I looked at my last years side which did pretty well, and from the beginning I had 5 guns at the start that I had at the end, and a further 2 who I traded out due to injury that I never brought back (and I ran with 0 trades for the last 3 weeks from memory). So using a similar template I feel like you kinda need 7 or so guns from the outset. Grabbing all these so-called value guys seems a little risky, you'll need at least a couple to come off big time!
