Besides raiders hooker and Croker, who are the best/ most likely cheap (228k or less) guys?

Don't know anything about him but Sione Katoa seems rated highly and has an edge for a rnd 1 spot, as does Luciano Leilua for a bench spot. Andrew Savelio, Keegan Hipgrave and Payne Haas have been thrown around a bit.

However this is just purely off the hype and they could be named in the extended squads for a while or even lower.

On the topic of rookies/cash cows, does anyone know of any to avoid? (eg. past years; Elgey, Feeney, Nabuli. etc)

You could add Edrick Lee to that list and to answer that last question, its difficult to predict the flops but any Rookie who will be used as an Utility is not worth having

RFM and Harris are the guys I feel like I wont get in my team and will cost me.

Murray is also another one, but I don't think it will hurt me as much.

Mbye and Croft or DCE and Watson?

I think DCE and Watson is probably safer. Mbye and Croft feels like there is more potential if it goes right. Mbye could go well at fullback and if he gets goal kicking then he shouldn't lose money.

I am not sure how Watson will go if he is in the halves with Pearce.

I am not good at looking up stats so much, but I think I distinctly remember Tyrone Peachey scoring well from centre , when he consistently plated 80 minutes in that role, even better than he scored while in the 2nd row.

With all the 2nd rowers at the Panthers and him being fit surely he is custodian there for the entire season and is seriously worth considering.... or are my memories deceptive.?

Also to note on Harris, he's playing outside Green again so attacking stats should remain similar. Maybe more tackles in the Warriors now ????

He averaged 35 at centre last year which is what he is priced at.

2016 he averaged 44 at centre.

Ah OK. That answers my questions ThanQu! I wonder what led to the the decline in scoring. I don't get to see as many games as what I would like to.

On another note, I am starting to think that Jai Arrow may be a trap, particularly if he starts of the bench and B. Cartwright starts at lock. The promise that was made to Arrow on signing was before Cartwright was signed. I have taken him out of my team for the first time, just now.

On another note, I just worked out how to use the team planner. It is quite amazing... Sincere thanks to whoever put the time into making this. It is changing the way I prepare my team as we speak.

Could be a POD with 5.6% ownership. Not recovering from an ACL this season and is in contract year.

Milne also around, but everyone already has him in their starting 13.

The problem is there are going to be dud cheapies, guys like Feeney, Phythian, Elgey, ROry O'Brien etc. People won't deliberately select these guys but every year they pop up in people's teams.

Normally its not the end of the world to have a dud if you have 6-7 other cheapies who are doing their job.

The problem is going to be what to do when Kikau/Katoa/whoever put up a poor round 1 score. Will you give them another week or 2, or play trade roulette chasing guys you missed who scored OK. Will chew through the trades doing this, and depending what sort of bankroll you have, might force you to downgrade players you otherwise wouldn't want to.

The small squads this year make it even more important to get it right first time. Getting caught with a Feeney is going to be painful.

Not 228k, but Darcy Lussick 285K and starting FRF has been in most of my 22-25 lists. Could possibly be Milne to, but I like having him in my 21 with Aubusson as back up centre in the 18-21. What we really need is a cheap CTR/WFB to pop up. Hopefully this Sione Katoa is it???

Darcy Lussick is a bit like Kane Evans for me - potential to make some cash, but a lot of history of disappointment.

I'm confident there will be a few $228k outside backs come round 1, getting a start through either trial form or injuries. Just have to hope that they can average at least 25 points (which is no guarantee for some wingers)
