Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 13
Afternoon all,
been at work, still gutted at my Round 1 score of 730. But, had Kikau & Rochow on my AE so there's more points in my team. A couple of questions: obviously having Katoa means a trade, was thinking of going with Thompson, but am a little gun-shy based on his job security.
If I can find the cash, what do you think of pushing for Edwards / RTS?
To get said dollars, I'm thinking of downgrading either SST or Lichaa to I Papalii, obvious cash grab, but he seems to be the Warriors edge forward opposite Harris.
Which one out of Lichaa / SST do you gents think is most likely to tank?
Cheers

Yeah mate, only 733 for me and missed Kikau and Rochow haha.
I'll probably just grab Thompson and ride the cash raises as I think his job security is pretty set at the moment.
Grabbing a gun does seem like a good idea too and also potentially looking at getting rid of SST. I have SST and Lichaa and would drop SST first.

Do you need the WFB in your 14-21 or 18-21 ?

@StormTrooper96, just get your best team on the park lad. H2H is a whole different animal to overall. In years past especially (will be different this year with the byes set up the way they are) players going for overall positions would make inroads during the bye rounds while H2H leagues had these weeks off. I'm not sure how our league is set up (was a very late join) but basically decide how you wanna go. Win the head to head league and you get promotion to the next tier next year. Otherwise play for overall points. Nothing you need to do differently for overall in the early stages tho, just put a good scoring squad on the park

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 13
RTS scored around his breakeven, so is probably priced accordingly.
Edwards above and will be going up in price, so may be paying near top dollar for him.
Teddy on the other hand was well below breakeven, and should be dropping cash over the next couple of weeks while Thompson should be gaining after the 50+.. That's the route I'm thinking of going.

One or the other @Go Refs. If there is one in your 14-17, they will go into your starting 13 and your 1st EMG will come into your 17. If you have one in your 18-21 they will automatically go into your 13.

@Go Refs - Reference my previous post, first WFB from 14-21 replaces your non-playing player. Only confusing thing is whether someone bumps up to your bench

@Rapture_NRL if the player comes from you 14-17 then your 18th man or first EMG players moves onto your bench. If the player comes from your emergencies as you don't have a wfb listed in your reserves then nothing changes.

Sorry for all the @ tagging lads, using the forum on my mobile as my lappy has died and can seem to quote on the mobile site. I'd use the "full site" function but my fingers are too fat and my eyes getting shit in my old age to be able to see what I'm typing on there! Hahaha

Wasn't thompsons job security pretty iffy before Rd1? What has changed to beef that security up?

How did Kikau go?
Will he get enough minutes to score well?
Is he a safe option to put on the INT bench?

Further to the idea of loopholing Katoa this week... Sharks play Thursday night so if you left Katoa in your starting 13 and then had say Isaako in your 14-17 he would become your player to move into Katoa spot. I wonder what importance that leaves around your 18th man? You could potentially double loophole that position by utilising the rolling lockout right?

@Liverpool_Bulldog, I think the main thing that changed was Nofo was dropped. Not sure if for disciplinary reasons or not. He was one of their best last year tho so seemed a little strange to me and the job security of Thompson was the reason I shied. That being said, it would be hard to dump him now following his efforts on the weekend.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 13
The way I read this is that I need cover for each position in my EMG to avoid a 0 score for a player who does not play in my 13. If the player is on the bench, the highest scoring EMG replaces him.
ie. if Katoa does not play and is in my 13 I need a WFB in my EMG
if Katoa is on the Bench then he is replace with the highest scoring EMG
EMERGENCY PLAYERS
These are players whose priority-order is numbered 5 to 8 on your Reserves Bench.
A player from your Starting 17 who doesn't take the field will be replaced by a player from your Reserves Bench based on the rules for applying auto-emergencies.
If a member of your starting 17 (13 on field and 4 interchange players) do not play in any given round an Emergency will be automatically assigned. This Emergency’s score will be automatically added to the total points scored by a team in any given round. The assigned Emergency will be the highest-numbered scoring player from the Reserves Bench who receives a score for the round and matches the position of the non-playing Starting 13 player. If this auto-emergency player is listed within the Interchange Players they will be replaced as an Interchange Player by the highest-ranked eligible Emergency not currently in the Scoring 17. This process of automatic emergency substitution will continue as described until there are no more eligible emergency replacement players. If no player from the Reserves is eligible to substitute for a non-playing member of the Scoring 17 no emergency substitution will be made. If the process of applying automatic emergencies results in fewer than 17 players scoring points a team’s total score for that round will be the aggregate total of only those players who have scored points.

@dreamers, Kikwow looked great! I had him on my int and am contemplating moving him to my starting side. Seemed to be set for big minutes but came off possibly due to an injury although I haven't been able to find anything further on this. Even so, 60 minutes seems to be well n truly enough for him to score well despite some over inflation this week due to a try. Base stats weren't massive (only 16 tackles and 9 runs) but breaks a lot of tackles ( meaning his run meters get up there as well.
Personally I was pretty impressed.

NRL PHYSIO
@nrlphysio
Been getting a few Q's re: Viliame Kikau and potential chest/pec injury. Word from Panthers is "clean bill of health", review of the injury video below unclear but shows little to suggest significant pec/sternum injury. Seems to be more hand/finger. Hopefully minor/no fracture
Kikau was also clapping/dancing post match during the team song and moving quite freely, did have a finger on his right hand strapped though
+ same source
Raiders confirm Joe Tapine suffered a dislocated thumb yesterday (but no mention of fracture, hopefully a sign he avoided this). Dislocation often still involves ligament injury though. If ligament damage; likely 4-8wks. If no fracture/ligament damage, 1-3wks very achievable
