Averaging 8 MTs a game though, so before the game even starts you might aswell see his score as -16

Only 2 penalties conceded by Maloney in 4 games too. Can't remember his history prior to last season, where he was the most penalised guy in the league, but maybe had something to do with what Booze mentioned with being lazy/pay disputes etc.

He doesn't kick much, more of the running type half so wouldn't be a massive factor here

It was part of the Sharks strategy to give away penalties (Close to the line) so perhaps he was the 'go to' guy here. Or a combination of both discipline and this
One thing with Maloney is he always has a great first year at a new club with big impact.
Second year he wins you a premiership (Or gets you to a grand final if you are the warriors)
Then he loses interest and leaves haha, usually that last year is bad and plays like he has mentally left the building
Perhaps he is hard to keep motivated so can only manage it for a short period. The history is there

He kicked in general play all the way through his junior and NSW cup career, plus limited metres in NRL as a rookie next to Cleary. Cleary isn’t there now. It might all be moot anyway if he’s not fit yet, but I know he’s close.

Fair point Rabs, he may be worth a dice roll as no halves really excite me too much as I own DCE
but with Johnson/Cleary out injured, Widdop/Hunt going up in price , Walker/Munster need the attacking stats and Pearce still a bit pricey still there are few guns left.
There are a few mid range options too but at this stage a cheaper one is probably worth the gamble
A trade like Williams/Croker to him means in 4 weeks you may only need to find 200-300k to upgrade to Johnson or perhaps less for Pearce
At worse you get to enjoy the odd bbq

He’ll be priced too high with a 44 average. I was more pointing out he could affect Maloney’s kick metres.

I’m looking at Townsend over someone like Maloney

I have Townsend, started with him. He is ok, but I wouldn't be buying him in.

True, but he averaged around 100 km when he did play and would imagine they would still have Maloney be the kicking option.
While you couldn't say that he wouldn't have impact, I still reckon Maloney could average 30+ points a game and for his price there is still value there.

Looked at at starting him but ended up paying a little extra for DCE... Still you got a nice return, but his value is almost all gone and if you bought now and would be paying top dollar for a non keeper.
The one thing you do get his one less headache instead of having to pick which cheap half to start
This reminds me of last year and choosing centres haha

I might bite the bullet and go Smith to DCE. They should be round the same price wont they or maybe DCE dearer. That way I will have DCE and MBye and shouldn't have to worry, as long as MBye is okay.

Looks like selling low and buying high to me.. Cam with his usual 50-60 next week and DCE with a solid 35.. won't feel too good.

So what was the reason Smith wasn't kicking goals? Was there an official word?

Apparently he picked up a light injury last week, something with his leg. @Milchcow mentioned something about it
