Saw a rumour probably false about Martin having played so many games gets an increase next game. I don't know if true but this happens in English football with players sometimes

Martin has played first grade in weeks when Greg Eastwood and Asipeli Fine have played NSW Cup. I can't see how it can possibly be cap issues that are preventing him from playing now, when he has already played games ahead of top 30 players who play the same position.
I thought the argument some people were making were along the lines of contract which had some kind of performance clause. Therefore if he played over a certain amount of games his effective salary goes up and the dogs went over. So by dropping MByes contract they free up cash and enable Martin to play more.
Thats how I understood the basis of the cap space argument.
I guess the top 30 argument was less convincing but I understood that was about the Dogs making a mistake in playing him, and therefore that by dropping a top 30 player (Mbye) Martin could now slot into 30th and could play. Again, not familiar with details and the argument could be completely flawed, but for what its worth, that was my understanding of why Mbye's departure could benefit Martin. Or at least how some people on here thought it could.

I'm pretty certain that rumour started here with someone suggesting it's a possibility.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 55
I really feel like people are looking for something that's not there with Martin.
Simplest explanation is often the case: the coach wanted to play one player ahead of another, now he's changed his mind.

I would think that if Martin was in a Kirk Reynoldson type situation where the Dogs weren't playing him to save on salary cap, that we would be hearing about it
There was no announcement of why he has been dropped so people are speculating, but some of the suggestions make no sense (and lets face it, if it wasn't for fantasy most of us wouldn't give 2 shits about whether or not the Dogs play a fringe first grader or not)

Good point, but at the same time I think people are exploring what is sensible re Martin and what is not. E.g. if you've held him this long, given all the uncertainty (position in team, why, departures of other players), and given his fantasy potential, you may as well wait till 17 to get some more clarity.
Perhaps Im in the lucky position where I can afford to hold him this week to find out, although I'd presume most who still have him could do that too? Its no big deal to wait one more week...

Martin can only make the team as a lock, with Jackson and RFM in the second row, arguably the strongest part of the Dogs team. Adam Elliott might just be highly rated by Pay, and likes a Klemmer/Tolman lock/prop rotation when he's not there.
But, with the goal kicking up for grabs, if Holland stays on the bench, he could start Martin, and after their weak performances, surely some spots are up for grabs?

Martin was playing edge and Jackson lock even with Martin #13. Klemmer and Tolman can play prop. I don't know what Pay sees in Elliot

I'm hearing Cook has now picked up a season ending injury. How bad is that for timing!

Actually, just to add a safety wink - I thought it might be obvious following on from the rumours post above.....

Those kind of (false) rumours re: CS9 or players of similar ilk used to warrant death by hanging at this time of the year

I was certainly a member of the lynchmob and would be again but with over a week until our next game and how obvious this one was I think it's pretty safe.StuDogg101 wrote:Those kind of (false) rumours re: CS9 or players of similar ilk used to warrant death by hanging at this time of the year

People have been banned for those sort of comments without a reputable source.

Verbal's post looks obviously like a joke, but lets not start a habit of it, before people start taking things seriously.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 55
We could just start our own rumour for funsies to test the social construct of NRL fantasy.
Pick one in each category
1) Sacking, Arrest, Recovery, Hospitalisation
2) Star player, Fantasy Gun, Captain, Cashcow
3) Spouse, Member of public, playing group, coach
4) Code of Conduct breach, Experimental drugs, personal issues, bizarre contract clause
Unprecedented _____ of ______ involving _____ due to ________

They happen all the time in the footy threads. Pieman and No Worries are Mole and Lurker I reckon.
