Although nobody really knows what a try save is, I think a key component is that it involves a tackle, and not just any play that prevents a try.

I did think that too, but really if Isaako's foot isn't there, the ball goes down.

There are plenty of player actions that would result in a try if they didn't happen. Almost any tackle close to the line, or forcing a winger to get his foot into touch before grounding the ball. For whatever reason, the definition they use for try save is a lot more specific than solely "prevent a try".
This is not the first time that someone has failed to get try save points for saving a try.

If Isaako's wasn't a TS last night then they seriously need to ditch that stat. They dont have it over at VSDT and I think fantasy is much better without it. Unless of course they can define it and record it better. Otherwise its just a bonus 5 points some players get every now and then!

Yeah the question is, is it not a try save because it wasn't really a tackle?
Also, I don't remember clearly but did he actually attempt a tackle after that, could it be counted as a missed tackle?

If you shoulder charge someone unconscious as they approach the line and its not given a penalty try, do you want that given as a try-saver?

imo Isaako isn’t a true trysaver because from memory it was pure luck his foot was there? Maybe I’m remembering it wrong.

You might be right, I just saw an image of it, I assumed he did it on purpose.
Either way, Issako aside, this is perhaps the most arbitrary stat in the fantasy game. They should ditch it I reckon.

Gonna have to play Melbourne at some point in the finals = no chance at a premiership.surmo13 wrote:*put 50 points on a top 8 team*

Agree Rippin'
Let's not forget, however, that Fantasy/DT was designed for fans to become virtual coaches.
What better way to emulate out great game then to introduce a whole heap of subjective rules employed at personal discretion.
Is it possible we have been too harsh on FanHub? Maybe they are actually geniuses and their perceived failings are, in fact, the delivery of an extremely realistic product?

They must give Ganesh and Sanjay some sort of training, it would be great if someone from here could sit in on it. How good would it be to be able to get clear explanations from someone who knows what their definitions are?Rippin and Tearin wrote:If Isaako's wasn't a TS last night then they seriously need to ditch that stat. Anyway, I guess there are arguments for both sides. oesn't really matter, we can't control what Ramesh and Sanjay give out points for.
Anyway, what are other MBye owners doing? he's my 18th man, but wondering if he's worht a trade.

This has reminded me to trade him to Ponga. I think.

Depends how many trades you've got left. I'm still holding Sua because I've only got 2 left...wolfking wrote:Anyway, I guess there are arguments for both sides. oesn't really matter, we can't control what Ramesh and Sanjay give out points for.

I have 4. Could trade him to Fainu, Kikau, Turbo, not sure really. I'm liking Fainu but worried about his court case.
Holding Sua is pointless, no matter how many trades you have. If you can get another keeper for him, he's worth trading.

He's only 18th man. Pointless trading him to someone I'm not playing who could go down next week anyway, then I'm down a trade for no advantage.wolfking wrote:

Fair enough. Same could be said for me trading MBye. I'm just a sucker for a negative BE and a hooker that racks up the points.

As always, it needs to be pointed out that VSDT and Fantasy both use the same stats source.
And Fanhub does not provide stats at all.
I care more about the inconsistencies around try assists than about try saves or tackle busts.
Although it would be nice to be given clear definitions of everything
