Who you going with captain week 1?

Week 1 is a crap shoot, new offences, new defences new schemes, new hope!!

I edging towards D Johnson against the Redskins, based on a predicted huge workload

Captain Rogers - and hopefully Mack doesn't play this week

sneaky VC on Mahomes? KC defence is atrocious - possibly worst in league? and against LA. Mahomes may have to throw and throw to stay in the game - plenty of guns to throw it to.

I was going Rogers but I really like that Bears D and that was before Mack, always some early season eye openers and I think Bears beating the packers will be one of them

    I'll start with the kickers

not a huge amount of difference in scores so a rookie or someone who has now won the starting job after being a back up last year offers a fair amount of money making opportunity, a few suffered down years and have been guns in the past

I like (down years last year)

    Crosby GB $4,600,000

    I Love

    Carlsson MIN $2,450,000
    Maher DAL $2,300,000
    Sanders MIA $2,450,000

I'm personally going with 2 of the "love" picks cheap as guts and starting kickers for respective teams, money making and some decent scoring, that will do

Captain Gurley for me this week, until I figure things out. The internet tells me that the Raiders are in disarray. Shrug

It looks like my research isnt too bad. I have Carlson starting at the moment. One of Janikowski or Sanders as the other pick. J'ski isnt on your list so I assume hes a dud.

My first draft team, about 50% set pending Welshy's gems for each position...

    Rogers, Mahomes, Darnold
Gurley, Johnson, McCaffrey, Barkley, Kerryon, Freeman
Brown, OBJ, Julio, Green, Keelan Cole, ARob, Corey Davis, Gallup
    Gronk, Burton, Reed
    Maher, Sanders
    Vikings, Browns

This comp is basically 0.5ppr scoring, and I was burnt last year with rookie WRs, so I've gone WR heavy this time around.

Stuffed around too much with K's and Defence last year (like Centres in fantasy) and not much money to be made, so saved money in those positions and won't trade too much there I hope

Nothing wrong with Seabass mate, just beat out Myers who I had pegged to start but is now with the Jets

Carlsson in for me also, just got to hope the Vikes offence isn't so succesfull he doesn't see the field much

    Defence -

Tough to judge before the season starts, as teams scheme to beat them the elite teams like Jags, Rams, Ravens will provide pretty much the same

Don't mess around with the D too much, like CTRs in NRL so I'm looking at this as grabbing 1 of the elite 3 and picking up a money maker to sit on my bench and potentially play good match ups

unlike NRL.... MATCHUPS in NFL fantasy are much more relevant

in saying that here are some slightly cheaper options with the chance to elevate to elite

I like (as D's with potential to move into elite)

    LA Chargers $7,940,000
    Bears $7,060,000

    Browns $3,300,000

    I Love

    Houston Texans $4,020,000

I like the Browns to not become elite bit to at least make some half decent cash, the D will be tied to how well their offence goes and how long they can keep opposing D's on the field, if the Browns D are constantly on the field they will fade hard like last year

Texans have potential to become elite again with injured superstar Watt returning, adding Mathieu helps the back end and I'd expect some good sack numbers and turnovers

Posting before all of the tips are posted. Dont want to look like a copy cat

    Rogers, Mahomes, Darnold
Gurley, Kamara, Johnson, Barkley, Michel, Freeman
Brown, Julio, Thomas, Green, Thielen, Goodwin, Moore, Sutton
    Walker, Olsen, Burton
    Carlson, Sanders
    Texans, Browns

Edit, I've pissed around with this already. Old news

Im more than happy with that mate.

Im all for people enjoying this season and coming back next year so if it helps everyone if you post then Im fine with that. My sense is that there are a few people that know what they are doing and most are relatively new to either NFL fantasy, VSDT platform, or both. So the more help for those people the better.

In short, I think people can post what they like and then everyone else just has to chose what they do with the info posted.

    Hopefully thats cool with everyone

I'm currently going like this...I couldn't decide between Kamara and McCaffrey so going with them both

    Rogers, Luck, Darnold
Johnson, Kamara, Cook, McCaffrey, Barkley, Freeman
Brown, OBJ, TY Hilton, KCole, ARobinson, William, Enuwa, DJ Moore
    Gronk, Kelce, Olsen
    Carlsson, Maher
    Rams, Texans

seems stupid not buffing up my WR more and having a projected high non scoring RB on my bench, so may need to change that

    nothing wrong with yours mate

Enuwa was out pretty much all last year so is cheap as chips and the Jets are likely to be playing from behind a lot so more potential for catches
MWilliams absolute horseshit last year but is an absolute weapon in what should be a high scoring offence, won't catch masses of passes but huge redzone threat
Cole is Jags no.1 receiver now so should get some targets

I've got an extra high priced RB so i had to go cheaper into the WR stocks mate may have to change that before seasons starts though

Yeah my only tip from last year is that rookie pass-catchers (WRs and TEs) are an absolute crapshoot. They'll score stuff all three weeks in a row and then grab a couple of TD passes and score 50 when you have them on the bench. Trying to stick to clear best-on-team catchers for my starting positions. I started the season in Verbal Kints position and finished 40th with plenty of questionable strategy, so I wouldn't rule anyone out.

As for specific players, who knows. I think Rodgers and David Johnson are just about must-haves, probably Barkley as well.

Texans or Browns as a backup defence?

Much prefer my team with the changes I just made but it requires Luck returning to the Luck pre injury which is a gargantuan risk

I had luck in my first team (which is still my current team). Not sure about him though. He's priced well if he can get back to his old self!

Agree with thickshaue about rookie WRs - unfortunately you gotta grab a couple though IMO so best of luck with that!

I typically dont spend a bunch on my D or K either!

Most money goes into the skill positions. But basically the same strategy as NRLF, build around value add guns, and round out the squad with cheap rookies. Thats my strategy anyway!

care to post current team bud?

I've just put Mahommes in for Rogers so relying on the KC weapons to carry him a bit with Luck starting

It's allowed me to bring in DHop for Keelan Cole

Have no fucking clue what I am doing. Just picked some players I like and filled my bench with rookies that I got from a link that I just searched for haha. This is what my first draft looks like with $0 dollars left. If anyone could tell me if I'm close or way off the mark, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Rodgers Luck Mayfield
Fournette Freeman Johnson Ajayi Barkley Michel
Brown Cooks Evans Gordon Cole Coleman Moore Ridley
    Gronk Olsen Gesicki
    Lutz Carlson
    Eagles Jets
