It looks to me like fullbacks are going to be where a lot of tough early decisions have to be made. Much unlike last year.
Meaney for the Doggies? Tempting cow at sub-400.
Abbey at the Raiders should take #1 if Wighton moves to the halves, then a must-have. Likely?
J.Hughes at fullback for the Storm looks plenty tempting behind that pack, but is the job security ok?
TMM available at FB, sub 400, running next to Morgan - I'm tempted. But then Morgan is also available at FB. Too risky to have both?
Corey Norman at close to 600, is he too expensive for a unreliable FB (but behind a good pack)? Yeah, probably. Will be interesting to wait for value.
If Mann doesn't start a hooker, but plays a bench utility role, is he bad value at sub-400?
Are Inglis' absent knees a turn-off from him as FB-priced-as-centre?
D.Edwards looked the goods last year as a Teddy-option. With him running off a good, set halves paring (and behind Kikass etc), is he a slighlty-underpriced keeper at sub 600k?
I can't see any value in Teddy, TTurbo or RTS. Am I wrong?
Huh. Just typing this out makes me nervous about the number of mid-rangers I'm considering after going too heavy mid-range last year. Anyway, grateful for any thoughts!
Meaney is underpriced yes, but by like 100k - 50k. He averaged 35, but I don't have the stats in front of me to break it down. Based on that he isn't a keeper WFB, and while he could be a decent stepping stone to a keeper. I would much rather save that cash and spend it on an out and out gun and get a cheapies with the same cash potential.
Some people have voiced concern over Abbey and his poor scores, but it's hard to not get sucked in by a Feeney 2.0. So if named at #1 and likely the only bottom of the barrel pick up. He becomes an incredibky hard option not to pick, but definitelt dont start him.
Don't have stats so can't comment on Hughes.
I'd rather Morgan over TMM. He is at least got complete job security, and can smash out the occasional 70 point game. If TMM looks like a decent option for his price range then no harm having both.
Isn't Widdop the FB? Either way a team with Hunt/Widdop/Norman. There are only so many base stats to spread out. I'd imagine Norman would fluctuate his scores the most.
I'd be hard pressed to find any Bench Utilities I would take for around 400k in price.
Edwards certainly has a Teddy/Ponga lite feel and I will probably pick start with him instead of the other two.
Tuivasa/Trbojevic probably lack the consistent high scores to push them to the next level with Ponga and Teddy. They certainly have some value and RTS being a heavy focal point on attack with no S. Johnson could score more reliably.
I think it is silly to say Tedesco provides no value, as his value is his consistent and relatively high average in the most volatile position. He won't make cash but if I could spend the same amount on a WFB who makes 150k or scores like Teddy. I would take Teddy every day.
