    Is that a good bet?

Personally this is the way I would be going

I think best line up is:

    17 Walters
    18 Lolo
    19 Staggs
    20 Nikora
    21 Brittain

    Burns at C

That means we can get a free look at Lolo and then a free look at Staggs over Nikora (assuming Lolo goes ok).

if Lolo goes rubbish we bump both Staggs and Nikora up to discard Lolo's score.

If Lolo goes well we check out Staggs before deciding between Staggs or Nikora

So if we decide we don't want Lolo's score, we have to swap Burns and Walters out for Nikora and Staggs

I'm not guaranteed to be online to make that swap. Hopefully Lolo goes OK and we don't have to worry about it.

I think just set it up now so that Staggs is the one to miss out, just in case we can't change it we should have the preferred 17 as the scorers

Ended up costing us 15 points last week, but I think the Staggs/Nikora loop (with a sneaky look at Taumalolo first up) is the best available to us again

    Unless anyone has better options

Some other mother fuckers can do it next year though (joking....kinda).

I've enjoyed this, but its a bit of a shit to get done and I personally think we could tweak the way we run it. That said, consensus appears to be this is the way to go which Im absolutely fine with! I'll just contribute via votes next year I think.

Been a good season though and I really hope a top 100 spot is still within reach. Need to get the Captain right though I reckon.

We've achieved our primary goal of winning the celebrity league

(nearly 600 points ahead of Renegades who are 1304th overall)

If we can sneak into the top 100 it would be great. Probably the best chance of that would be POD captain and hope they go large. But we have a good 17 so just playing it safe and hoping for the best should see us at least maintain ranks

As for next year, I have a few ideas around possibilities for picking the initial starting team.

I think our weekly trade polls worked pretty well - and its hard to change too wildly from that without turning it from a community team to a clique team just run by a few.

We get a lot more people voting than those who make comments, so I hope everyone feels like they have been involved in the decision making.

One thing to ease the burden on the people running it would be to abandon a looping strategy. Just set your best team on a Thursday and hope for the best. Last minute changes have been the more time consuming part.

And if anyone else wants to take charge next year, put your hand up to have a go, or any other suggestions.

Yeah Im not sure of the best approach to be honest. And I agree that we need to maintain the integrity of it being a "community" team. That said, I do kinda feel like its been a bit of a tight group of people actually driving this thing, sure people vote, but their votes have been constrained to what ~3 or 4 people consider to be the best options each week. As you say, very few have actually come on here and contributed regularly, in fact I think I could count them on one hand!

Im not complaining though, t has been fun, and then team has done better than mine Smile

Ultimately I think you are right about keeping it the same, in the absence of a better system that people actually agree on!

As for looping, I dont think its that big a deal to keep on top of that. I mean if the team is going to be competitive someone (or a couple people) weekly has to be available to sort out injuries, team list changes etc over the weekend, so making a swap once and again isnt a huge burden. That said, I do know what you mean Milchy that basically you and I have had to make sure at least one of us can be available at a particular hour of the weekend to ensure we dont fuck things up and miss out on one of our good scorers!

One suggestion I have is that you guys keep an open mind about changing things up at some point, not necessarily next year though... I think that could keep things fresh, keep more people engaged, while still maintaining the community feel. I also think, given that ultimately you will need a core group, probably 3 or 4 people to run the thing involved, that getting buy in for that responsibility will be easier if those people can have some level of control about how they run it.

Just thoughts - bring on the top 100!

You'd think next year it'd be easier to organise as the team is already inputted into the system as a celebrity team instead of the start of this year where there was a bit of chaos early on

Although there is a core group that decide the vague direction, I don't feel they dominate the actual decisions too much.

Certainly the majority of votes have gone against my personal preferences (particularly earlier in the season when there were a lot more trade options on offer)
And for the most part the community has done better than my choice , so that teaches me a lesson.

The fact that we are still getting 25-30 people vote on captaincy every week, shows people have at least some interest, even if they don't post about it.

Its the week by week stuff man that takes time. Posting up the team, the updates, the trade options, the potentially strategies and ways forward. Plus the setting of the team line up each week, the looping stuff, and the monitoring for late changes and subsequent re-shuffles. There's only 3 of us with actual access to the account and Captain did it solo for the fierst part of the season, and milchy and I the remainder. I'ts all good fun but for me its been about 10x more consuming helping to run this team as it has running my own.

It's not hard to see how much effort you guys have put into it this year. There's no way I'd be able to do it like that but maybe sharing the load around week to week could be an option.
I'd imagine there are a few of us who could do a couple of weeks each throughout the season to give you guys a bit of a break from it.
