Hmm interesting. First season I played NRL Fantasy was in 2009 I think, wow so it's been around since the mid 2000s??

Normally if a forward joins a stacked pack, you wouldn't think it was a good thing for fantasy (ie Woods leaving Tigers, James Graham to Dragons) which would be an argument in favour of LAM (or at least not an argument against)

I think the biggest thing to look at in regards to the forwards is the coaching, having an idea on how coaches like to use their players is the best indicator when looking at a forward at a new team.

Fantasy rugby league has been around since at least 2002. Early versions didn't include the stats we do now and it was mostly just tries, goals, and points for being on a winning team, so rather than today's strategy of chucking forwards into the backline, you wanted to name backs in your forwards.

Just for a throwback, here are the 20 most expensive players from 2005 fantasy (sportal/sportsdeck version)
    Salary cap was $3.25million

James Graham is the perfect example that comes to mind with this theory.

Those early days used to be fun. Points for tries, goals, field goals and forward tries (40 tackles / hitups). How much the scoring has changed over the years, would be a bit of nostalgia to set a team up with the limited scoring chances.

Agreed. Kearney likes rotating his props. He has two on the bench, a lock/2RF and either a utility or another 2RF (with Tevaga Hooker cover)

    80 x 2 FRF = 160, 160 / 4 FRF = 40 min... Not expecting a minutes increase but expecting a similar if not higher PPM output

I started VSDT in 2008 I think. Not sure how many years it was around before that.

There was the FOX game and Sportal had a version as well. Before that there was the one where you literally posted your selections in, like by fucking mail lol! before those.   One of the lads on here (maybe Fraser or GM or Sash?) used to play it and relive the story occasionally, pretty sure was one of the Raiders favs anyway.

Actually GM might remember more about when the Sportal DT/Fantasy threads started as well.

Oh sorry, you meant the forum was around since the mid 2000’s? Yep, when I joined Sportal there were posters who’d been around since 2004. Revs was 2005. But the actual DT threads were started a bit later, as you’d remember it was primarily an ‘actual’ sports forum, not DT/Fantasy at all till Sebastian Tombs and co started the DT thread.

When the Storm salary cap scandal broke there were 3000 odd posters on there at the same time, so was a massive actual sports forum (not Fantasy/DT).

I played the Sydney Morning Herald Play-By-Mail fantasy. It was 1993 or 1994. Scoring was purely a rating out of 10 for each player each week (like Rugby League Week used to do)

I remember Tyran Smith was the player to have. He was dirt cheap and started the season on fire. Can't remember how the season finished, I lost interest part way through. Even the most trade ragey of traders would find it hard to max trade every week when you have to send your trades in through fucking Australia Post (and imagine if they had a reverse trades option!)

FRF is the position giving me the most grief at the moment.

I really want Fifita as a set and forget option, but it really kills the salary cap elsewhere. Its hard trying to find good value.
If NRL doesn't suspend Napa, might end up running Tolman+Napa (ideally with Fifita, possibly with someone like TPJ or Surgess)
I have doubts around the hoe people have around Twal being starting lock, but that woul dmake things easy. Maybe trials/TLT will throw up a good option.

I'm feeling the same. Have gone with a couple of different options but where I actually land will depend on TLT.

Have tried a structure with 1 gun(Fifi) and one mid ranger(Ofa being the most likely), have tried 2 guns(Fifi and Taupau), two middies (Ofa and TPJ) and even one mid one CC (Ofa and Guler). Structure wise I liked the idea of 2 middies as it gave me way more options elsewhere as long as you grab a couple of middies that will at minimum score at priced average.

Yeah FRF is a hard pick this season, hopefully TLT will give us some more options

I’ve got a feeling ST joined in 2008, so you might have been there for the inaugural Threads!!!

I lurked from late 2010 as I was too scared to join for over a year. It was sooooooo intimidating seeing everyone’s ranks and data and footy knowledge. I didn’t want to post for fear of humiliating myself. Not much has changed Very Happy

The top four props at the Warriors club are who?

LAM, Paasi, Bunty Afoa and Blair?

Can see LAM getting 45 minutes with the loss of Mannering in the middle.
