    Moeaki Fotuaika

5 games of 40 minutes or more, averages 51. Priced at 27.

Don't think you could regularly expect massive minutes given the stacked titans pack, but if he starts, then he is a leading FRF candidate

I'd have a real think about throwing him in because basement price fullbacks are hard to ignore, but i can't see Kahu at fullback working out at all, Kahu's best footy is behind him and the patchwork knees won't help either.

Strange, seems a bit early to end healthy competition. I guess that’s what lured him over the ditch. Looks very different with more hair, is that a man bun I spot?

Roache is also out atm, possibly round 1 as well. Not sure Luke will be out long enough for his replacement to be worth it bar Tevaga, which is open to interpretation

Crikey this came out of no where! P.S. I didn't dislike your comment. I think it's important though that the media sheds a lot on player behaviour these days. 1.25% might seem low but it really isn't acceptable and this off season is certainly the worst I have ever seen as far as severe incidents come. Without the media putting the spotlight on the players, there isn't enough motivation for the NRL to up its game and for the players to improve as a group. I was always taught at boarding school that everyone had to match a certain standard because its that 1.25% that can ruin a groups image. It isn't an excuse to ignore that 1.25%, everyone has to meet a standard and encourage each other to maintain that standard. Bring on the footy!!

I appreciate your thoughts though the last few threads have been on Bellend so not really out of nowhere.... It seems as though we may have gone to different schools. My learnings were 10% of people are fuckwits and no amount of government overhaul or people getting offended on the internet is going to change that. I’m all for reporting on severe incidents because yes they do happen, however my point is that I’m getting hit with news the WHOLE nrl has a problem and their culture sucks etc etc. this is a blue collar game, we are rough and far from perfect. Tarring everyone with the same brush is ridiculously stupid though. 98.75% of players will share this belief with me.... as it should be with normal people.

I understand your frustration with the media and I agree it does seem like they take any chance they can get to dogpile the Greatest Game, but we really do need to hold our players to the highest standard on sexual and domestic violence. 1.25% might seem low when you think about the general population but it is absolutely not good enough for professional athletes, who command huge salaries and fame in part because they are inherent role models that people look up to and admire.

I honestly don't give a fuck if Todd Carney pisses in his own mouth and you can equate that with blue collar roughness as much as you like, it doesn't bother me. Sexual or domestic violence is another matter completely though, and I'm happy for the media to beat the shit out of the NRL all day long until that 1.25% becomes 0%

Any thoughts on Aron gray starting at sharks? or Xerri will probably have a better chance at starting?

Neither will start but Xerri is ahead of Gray in the pecking order. Xerri is a gun in the making & with Dugan in the starting team it won't be long before he's injured & Xerri will get a go. Note that Xerri does have a chance to start round 1 on the wing. I'd say Katoa will be 1 winger but the other wing spot will be between Feki/Xerri/Gray.

Player power is piling the pressure on Garth Brennan to pick 19-year-old front-rower Moeaki Fotuaika in his starting team when Gold Coast open their season against the Raiders.

Still not enough minutes to go around in that pack with Boyd, Jwal, Arrow, Proctor and James. But Fotuaika is a future fantasy superstar

I'd say that 1.25% would be higher because a lot of these type of incidents are covered up by the clubs especially if it concerns an elite player. But it's definitely harder for players to get away with playing up these days because everyone has a smart phone & they can catch these players in the act. You can imagine how much shit went on before the smart phone.

I remember reading an article on the pioneers of NZ league who first played in the nrl paving the way for future NZ players & they were talking to Dane Sorenson. They asked him if anyone played up in his day & he said.....we would book out an entire floor of a hotel with security guards so no one not connected with the team could get in. He talked about alcohol & drugs being consumed & prostitutes regularly coming & going. Imagine if this happened today but back then it was acceptable.

Exactly! This has been rife and part of the league culture for decades. However, Andrew Johns got caught with 1 ecstasy tablet in England, and everyone went nutso and called him a 'drug cheat' and so on, despite him being human and man enough to come out publicly and deal with his problems head on - something that should have been applauded at the time.
