Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 thread part 7
The trial kind of made me want to just get Ponga into my team. Not because he did anything particularly special, but it was pretty clear he'd be very hands on the ball and he looked dangerous every time eh touched it. He should make up for lost run metres in tackles in the front line.

I've got CNK as my third WFB, its actually the '2nd' WFB that is giving me grief. Plenty of options around that 600k mark but probably only one that will be the stand out choice.
Main 3 seem to be Dylan Edwards, Connor Watson and Scott Drinkwater.
I think Edwards is the safest bet of the 3. He has the most history in the position with which to judge and although he probably won't extend to keeper level, he should give you a nice base with which to upgrade from.
Drinkwater is being picked based on talent, with a bit of hope thrown in. Probably has the highest potential out of the 3 options, but who knows if he'll reach it and how long it will take him to get there.
Watson didn't do himself any favours in the trial, but its just half of a meaningless game. He has played enough first grade to know he has talent, just a matter of whether it can translate to fantasy scores (and if he keeps his position or gets moved around during the year)

Pretty good, but banking too much on Radley. I wouldn't feel comfortable running with him as sole hooker. Although looking at the front row would make me smile.
Radley will continue to start lock but only play 50 mins. Will score anywhere between 30-55 for an average of around 45 is my guess. Only a short term thing until I see what is happening with the hookers. Priced at 34 so is value.

Ponga could be a pretty good pick. It's a win-win situation. At 6 i can see him getting plenty of ball and getting 45-50 in any game. If Knights don't click and they lose a string of games he just goes back to FB, where we all know how he goes there.

Are we confident he will start over Liu?

Is Luke confirmed to come in for Parra? This Fucking my team with Mahoney and me needing to start again?

He started over Liu in the WCC, which is an actual competitive game, so signs are promising. I am just not sure he'll get enough extra game time to increase his score by enough.

I looked at him with my initial draft team so we will see. He could get good attacking stats too and can slot in second row or hooker if any injuries do occur. If he starts, I'm very tempted.

Parra has expressed interest in Luke, but a formal offer has not been put on the table yet. A lot of speculation going on in the media as usual

I thought there was a 750k offer on the table over 2 yrs. Warriors can easily match that, but consindering his injuries they may not want to. Problem is they dont have great cover and a bit late now to find a replacement

There were talks about a potential 750k offer, no official offer has been made

Looking at the earlier Fifita + Taupau chat, I've kind of come up with this team
McCullough
Fifita Ofahengaue/Vaughan
Arrow Murray Taupau
Morgan Drinkwater
Capewell Lomax
CNK Watson Mansour
Roache/Egan (depending if Luke leaves Warriors) Stimson Burr Keighran
D.Brown Nikora Carrigan (212 who might replace Haas) A.Hopoate

Isn't Lomax a no go now? Looks nice though.

With the embarrassment of under-priced-second-row-riches out there, putting big Marty into 2rf is inexplicable.

Im struggling to get a balanced team (with all the value) with one of those guys. Put two in there and I think you are missing out on a heap of value elsewhere - if so I think having both would be too costly to compete. That said, if you genuinely dont think there is value at FRF then I guess the default is to go with guns.

I have seen quite a few people jump off Stimson over the last few days but i see him hitting 45 each week and well underpriced. Stimson was my first pencilled in as soon as the season finished last year.
Stimson has been in every team permutation I have made.

Besides Capewell/Nikora, Stimson, Murray who are locks in all teams created by most people, there isn't that many realistic options until TLT divulges its secrets
TPJ (injured), Radley + Twal + IPap (unknown role until TLT - IPap with Burr influence), Matterson (concussion problems??). JFH is one I like the look of. Taupau could get way more minutes with Paseka and Tanginoa getting injured in trial

I would need to see JFH fixing up his missed tackles before even looking at him.

I'd throw Jazz, Gillet, DFifita, Sorensen, Leilua, S.Mat, Bateman, Moose and CHN into the mix too. That's plenty to be going on with.

Gillet will start on reduced minutes and be eased back in. Will lose money. In a stacked pack does DFifita even get a start, any kid playing alongside Gallen is gonna lose out to that ball hog
