Also slightly surprised not to see Sam Burgess getting much of a mention in here. Underpriced gun. Will likely play a mix of edge and middle 65mins+ each week, and likely average his 50 again. Great option at FRF, with DPP to boot. Super tempted.

Definitely on my radar but think there is more value in Arrow/Matterson/Murray

I'm talking at FRF which is a problem position in a way. Not many options. You'd be mad to select Surgess in your 2rF given the options there.

Only 30k more than TPJ makes him a serious option

Not the first time I’ve seen a reference to prop being a problem position. I’m trying to afford and fit in all the ones I want so suprised.CubanMafiaSandSlugs wrote:

For starters;
Fifita
Tolman
Vaughan
Offa
LAM (at a stretch)
For DPP 14-17;
Tapau
Burgess
TPJ
McGuire
I’m not finding the position a problem to find suitable players. Finding it a problem to decide on 3
Currently starting Fifita/Tolman with Tapau bench fwiw

Burns when Inglis is back at centre. Thought he looked good enough to keep his spot though.

How much money is too much to have ITB at the start? I’ve always spent the lot but finding it hard this season. Happy with most of my team and have $152k left over. My biggest concern is Morgan instead of proven half. 135 doesn’t get me to someone like arey.
My current bench is: Mahoney, whitehead, Cartwright, Capewell. There are no areas in my team where there is an obvious upgrade. But obviously some weaknesses but need a big shuffle to fix them.

Looking a bit further in Surgess's stat it seems there is a correlation between Cam Murray's involvement and Surgess's scores. Over the last 2 season when Murray plays <35 minutes Surgess averages 50+ (54 in 2018 and 55 in 2017). When Murray plays >35 minutes Surgess average drops to 40 odd (42 in 2018 and 37 in 2017)

I’m looking at running Fifita, Surgess with no real cover to have Matterson on bench. Or I’ll run Fifita and tolman with surgess on bench for cover.

Yeah same, but someone said that Bennett said he won’t be in the 17? Correct me if I’m wrong

Has always been a bench player, getting around 40 minutes. Now is the top prop at warriors, should get 50+ minutes each week, huge PPM.
He is this seasons version of 2017 Vaughan.

No, you're right, Bennett did say thar. Whether he was bullsh!tting or just being an old crank I don't know.

2016 Vaughan was getting 41 point average in 40 minutes
2017 Vaughan averaged 55 in 47 minutes

Any concerns about Ah Mau's only consistent time starting at prop in 2016? Average of 34 points from 41 minutes in 18 starts.
Outside of that he had a 5 game run with Paul Vaughan/JDB/Packer all carrying injuries where he managed to average 57 points in 55 minutes. Packer had games of 6 minutes, 25 minutes and 38 minutes (down from average of 46). Paul Vaughan had a game of 2 minutes (season average of 47) and JDB had one of 58 minutes (season average of 66).

Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Thread Part 9
Running Mahoney as my starting hooker (ditching McCullough) actually makes for a much more enticing lineup.
Mahoney
Fifita, Taupau
Arrow, Surgess, Murray
Morgan, DBrown
Holland, Capewell
RTS, Edwards, CNK
Radley, Garner, Hetherington/antivax, Nikora
Keighran, Garrick, Ravalawa, Xerri
Mahoney
Fifita, Taupau
Arrow, Surgess, Murray
Morgan, DBrown
Holland, Capewell
RTS, Edwards, CNK
Radley, Garner, Hetherington/antivax, Nikora
Keighran, Garrick, Ravalawa, Xerri

I am running Mahoney as my primary hooker as well. My team structure is basically the same.

Scoring 47 last night in 60 odd mins last night is pretty promising though, for those who are keen on him.

Definitely take your point, but I guess for me, there are some obvious value options across all other positions (some cows, some mid-range potential guns etc). I dont think the same clarity exists with the FRF position. I see a bit of value in a couple guys, but not as much as in other positions hence the dilemma. I certainly see it as the toughest position to sort out. Currently Im looking at Tolman, Ofa (if he starts at lock), and then maybe Napa. That gives me cover but most importantly the $ left over to pick the blue team I want elsewhere (all pending TLT of course).
