I'm with you Si, I was a bit scared that Fifi may only punch out a 45-50, plus i feel i would be playing roulette all year until i got Cook in my team. I am more confident in Cook maintaining 60's and my team is balanced plus i have a decent bank to jump onto any missed cows. I am set, I still get nervous when people on here start talking negative about some of my players but i picked them for a reason and i have to remind myself of that reason.

It seems so blatantly obvious to move to Cook but for some reason I feel cautious of doing it
Hypothetically, if you don't start with Cook what price would you jump on if he starts with a few drops
What makes you think he'll drop? Last year his lowest score was 47 and he went over 70 nine times.

Unless he drops a bunch of cash due to injury or something, you jump on Cook once your cows have made enough money to afford him (or just after origin)
There will be a few other guys people will need to jump on CS9, JTrbo, TTrbo, Tedesco, Taupau, Cleary. Just have to do your best at working out timing when to bring them in.
Some of those choices might get made for you. If someone gets a 5th minute HIA to score 3 points and drop cash, then it sort of makes the decision for you to bring them in when they bottom out cash from that.

Even if Cook only averages 55 over the first 3 rounds he'll still be 900+

What are people expecting from Burns? At 323k he's not your standard bottom dollar cow.
Had some good games last season, but was pretty average in 2017

My thoughts are that Cook is top dollar, looking to increase is game this year so could even go 1 better. He will be very hard to afford later on. I think you start with him or sacrifice a lot to get him in later. Guys like Turbo, Jurbo, Cleary Macca, Crichton i will want in my final team and i think itll be easier as everyone goes through a rutt and these guys will be a bit cheaper to get in than cook.

Nope, can't help you there. I don't think Widdop will do well (he's more suited to supercoach scoring than fantasy). Don't particularly like the other options either. What about Connor Watson?

Don't you think opposition's video sessions might focus more on trying to limit his impact or do you reckon he's developed a new side to his game to prevent that so far under Bennett
In the preliminary final v Roosters last year he was very quiet
Also I kind of feel like I'm being a bit reactionary to the Burns side of the trade

Spent 2017 on the wing. Wingers tend to score from tries, unless they go looking for the ball like Mitchell, Roberts, Ferguson. Was also his first year in top grade and was only 20 years old. Will be turning 23 this year, playing in the centres should see more ball and more chance to score a try/ set up a try. Looked great in his two full performances last year. Im expecting 35 with the chance to hit between 40-45 every now and then.

I just had an epiphany! Cook has selected Burns in his side. Let's see him favour the left edge all year round.

I think if you don't start with Cook then by the time you have the coin to trade him in you'll be looking at trading him out again over Origin, where ideally he's a sell and buy-back. Although you might have used up all your trades by then, partly from financing and buying and selling Cook. Unless non-owners get lucky with an early HIA he's either Round 1 or Round 18 or nothing.

My plan is Macca Mahoney see what latter mins scores look like as well as the new cheapies then potentially trade to Cook +212k CTR/WFB NPR

Are there any players who you think aren't looking to increase their game this year?
Given he is already the highest averaging player in the game, it is much harder for Cook to go one better than any other player
As long as you pick decent cash cows, it won't be too hard to bring in Cook later on at all. I doubt he'll massively improve/decrease his price from what he starts at, so upgrading Friend/Mahoney/radley to Cook should be possible with a cash in of a cow or 2.
Last year we were blessed with lots of big money making cows. This year might not be quite so good but there will still be dollars out there to be had.

Given these days origin players only miss 1 more game than anyone else, I don't think there is a strong argument for trading people in and out over origin.
Unless you think they are going to get rested from a lot of club games on top of the origin byes. Last year Cook missed 1 extra game but still scored well other times
