Giving Rein a miss due to Brimson on the bench. Trades this week Mahoney>Carty and Burns>Teddy. Will look at Xerri/CHT and Ponga next week

Like everyone else I am struggling to arrive at the best trade for my team this week.

I need to buy a WFB as I have no cover after I sold Kahu last week. So my options are

    1) Dugan or Gutherson

    2) sell Mahoney or Lane to get Tedesco.

by taking option 1, I'll will have to upgrade either of them later on.

By taking option option 2, I am potentially missing out on any cash from either of these.

    Any thoughts on this?

Edit: After writing down my thoughts option 2 is definitely better so the question now is whether to sell Mahoney or Lane.

I had decided yesterday to roll with CHT this week, but that leaves me forced to use a trade next week on a half (likely Ponga), and that makes me uncomfortable given the carnage we've already seen this week. (my wfb is still edwards, burns, CNK).

The downside to Carty is, well, the potential to be a trap (back to bench). If he can keep playing 80 minutes, then he is serviceable, for the short term, in the halves, even if he does only average 35.

Keighran and Brown were the top cashcows in the halves. Followed by Morgan, with TMM and Keary not far behind.
Carty has just joined the ranks with his score of 52 last week.
With Keighran and Brown dropping, it only makes sense to jump on the next big earner in Carty.
CHT could be a potential new earner, Salmon if Brown is out for a while.
Ponga to be a cut-prize keeper in a couple weeks in the Halves.

Trading Mahoney really has me interested too. Could miss a dozen tackles on the weekend against Fifita.

Teeth Eater wrote:Anyone got the answer on CHT vs Carty? If they score similar, they more or less earn the same. In which case I’d definitely go CHT to save that initial $123k.

But do we think Carty scores better and more consistently, plus he’s probably likely to hold his position? If CHT scores ok you’d assume he’s likely to hold his spot for at least a few weeks, but is it just too big a risk? But is it one you just take anyway, assuming that either option is just a short term fix to a problem this week, and that neither option is a long term solution?

I don't think anybody will be able to say with any confidence how well either will go. For me, Carty has better JS, but, they're equally likely to score the same. The deciding factor is if $123k is worth JS. That would be my take. Hope it helps

What position did Carty sub on for? I wonder if starting has any impact on his mental game. I hated coming off the bench cold lol preferred getting the first hit ups/tackles out of the way

In the first two rounds he came on after 20 minutes and played out the game on the left edge.

I will give a shout out to mattnz here. I know we rev him up in regards to Xerri Beer but he mentioned mid game last week adding Carty to the trade list list and a couple of us dismissed him and moved on. Now look at us haha, credit where it's due. Obviously if Keighan and Brown we're playing we wouldn't be talking about him but nevertheless, here we are.

I'd love to get him in but probably too many fires to bring in a centre this week

A few cows are out of commission for the foreseeable future, he's playing and has the potential to earn money particularly with Dugan like you said and Moylan's history of hammy troubles. Good enough for me.

My pre-TLT trades were Mahoney & Edwards out - Bateman & Xerri in. This would have left me 208K itb
Since TLT my trades are now Mahoney & Keighran out - Bateman & Xerri in. This only leaves me 78K. My thoughts are that I am 99% sure Edwards (or Gillett...or both) will be a trade next week with most likely one of those options or Sele being a downgrade to accommodate for Tedesco and one of the cows coming through (CHT, Carty, any newbies). This will then allow me to trade Morgan/Hughes for Ponga in which Burns should hopefully be nearing return or praying back early and one of Sivo/Rava will be ready to be milked. Then i have to figure out how Crichton, Jurbo, Turbo, DCE, CS9, Tolo and another FRF Gun get in the team! This is going to be a long year. Thank god for Rein, Garner, Hughes, Morgan, CNK and possibly Murray for being great stepping stones.

Decent fantasy prospects if he can get the 80 but lazy defender. Never square and at least 2 Manly LBs were due to him not shutting down the OL. Captain whoever is playing against him
