The question may be more, does he become a safe captaincy gun option each week. If you can determine that early and he keeps putting up these kinds of scores, just with base stats, that is valuable.

Like Martin last year I guess. Still fun for what it enables us to do with our teams and may lead to some STRONG final teams a bit earlier this season

Still only 2 trades per week though sadly

CHT did just about the same thing, and everyone didn't jump on him.

The saying that you can't get all the cows is really coming to the fore now. CHT, Haas, Okunbor, Xerri all turning up at once. And if you are grabbing all of them, then you are likely missing out on Bateman/Teddy/Ponga/Twal when they are cheap.

That's right, trade the right person next week for him could mean more the difference than actually getting him I suppose. Never thought about that side of it.

Haas will have much more of an edge cause he's a forward and will get DPP if he stays at lock. CHT and Xerri are tough and yes you can't have them all, but I can't see any serious teams NOT prioritizing getting Haas next week.

    Money generation vs scorers

Anyone ever gone full cow before and tried to make a late points surge after some crazy cash generation? Could be an interesting group team idea next year to compete against the community team set up we already have?

Yeah picking the right person to drop will be important and people who gamble right with squad balance may do the best

Ie instead of haas in EMGs as a cow he looks like a first team scorer potentially like Nikora for example, leaving room in the EMGs for and 17 for more cash generation

Makes me regret my midranger strategy to start the season even more as the risk is greater with dropping my middies IMO

Im really torn on CHT and Xerri.

Both will be in the playing 17 this week, a goal kicking half from a inconsistent team vs a talented, quick/strong CTR for a decent team.

    Guess JS swings it.

    Can anyone expand on this?

I think there is a difference between a big minute gun forward getting base stats at high PPM over 60 minutes and a halves scores. Haas has always had high PPM at every level he has played. As long as Haas is getting big minutes and isn't injured, I expect he will keep putting up big numbers. I wouldn't have the same confidence of CHT week after week, based on his ISP numbers.

Not being able to get all the cows and guns at the same time is the reason I am trying to grab the best cows as early as possible, to free up trades when needed for getting fallen guns in.

But the big minutes and his body holding up aren't the certainties you're assuming. They all have risks, which relates to the point Milch is making, you have to choose which risks you're OK with (eg look at the decision lb is making) and pick the cow/underpriced gun based on that as you can't get them all.

Haas feels a bit like Bateman after round 1. Put up a massive score, in minutes that were unexpected (Ricky stated pre round 1 that Bateman wouldnt play 80 to begin with).

64 minutes last night for Haas is crazy. He's 20 years old. And it wasn't until right at the end of the game that he even looked tired.

They are going to have to manage his minutes, I would expect he doesn't always play so many, but he will plaly enough to put up good scores, and scores worth bringing him in for next week.

The thing that might have made people cautious on Haas (myself included) was his horrible few games last year. Could almost have been called Payne Glass.

I'm in the same boat mate. I think CHT will be the way for me so at least I have some half cover. If I go Xerri I will only have Morgan and Carty, which isn't ideal, and Ponga but he will be at the back.
