    The teams are picked after the round prior to Origin 2. QLD tend to pick theirs on the Sunday night and NSW tend to pick theirs the Monday morning. So this means they only get 7-8 days in camp for Origin 2.

    EDIT: So Origin 2 teams will be picked after the completion of RD 14 this year.

    Which is 3 days less then normal prep. So asking a lot more of origin players this year.

    How could these players not be rested the week after. I think it's a 3 week minimum still.

    Was planning on getting RTS. So that idea is scrapped. How long is Kennedy likely to stay in the team.

    Would you rather

    Okunbur -> Kennedy/Allan
    Hughes -> Bateman

    or

    Arrow -> Bateman
    Hughes -> Aekins/Walker

If we're being generous Rein scores 50 for the next 6 weeks, including a 50 in week 12, and then you trade him. Meanwhile Cook scores 60 for 5 weeks and gets a 0 for week 12, which is ignoring how useful he is as a consistent captain and ignores all the scores >60 that he probably gets, and you have the same amount of points scored in the same time. This example also ignores the amount of money you save buying underpriced guns, which people are doing for the likes of Ponga and Teddy and Cleary, where the differences between players in their position is even more drastic

    Yep see this is why I don't want to focus too much on bye rounds. Holding on to average players who play one bye round that might get outscored in the meantime by a gun keeper to the point where the difference is negligible.

    No, because instead of backing it up after a Wednesday game where they may only get 1-2 days rest (pending if they play thursday or friday) they get Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday after Origin to recover. Go through the Origin teams last year and tell me how many players played Round 14, 16 and 18 (games after origin).

    Yes but they had a full 10 days off before that.

    Now they have 7.

    But I take your point that they now get an extra 3 days off after.

    Wonder if that moves the scales in the other direction enough.

    ok............i see now.

    Pretty sure u are wrong mate. On my phone though so will let others explain.... I expect origin players on average to miss 1 or 2 extra games (more often 1) unless they get injured...

    I totally agree with this, but, it's worth considering that even if two players score the same points over 5 rounds. (cow plays 5, keeper plays 4 for eg) might be earning you 150k from the cow that assist in other purchases.

    But, if that's the case, it costs you an extra trade to benefit from. So, its def a case by case basis and comes down to planning.

    Yes so two years ago you had to bye plan because Origin players would miss 3 sometimes 4 more games than any other player. Now origin has its own standalone week origin players are likely to miss 1 maybe 2 more games than a non-origin player....

    or if you're Turbo you miss no games because you'll play Round 12.

    So looking at Captain Cook or Captain Bateman this week. After last week i think every man and his dog will Captain Bateman. Might try my hand at captain cook. Teddy is tempting also after 2 low scores.
