I'll use my own team thread to discuss my team in depth (its more of a team diary lol), but tbh, I don't think too far in advance other than loose plans. Everyone has the same long term goals, and wants to navigate the byes the best they can.
I find that detailed planning gets thrown out of the window most of the time. I posted yesterday, I've made 9 trades so far this year, and 5 of them were forced through injury + one suspension.
I've been pretty lucky so far this year with injury/suspension with only highlighted forced by injury/dropped

To be fair, if any poster was going to drop a team revelation it would be MattNZ!
What good is a revelation if it can't be revealed.
Having said that, Mattnz is usually very upfront about his plans (in other words POD trades) and usually like to take credit for jumping onto someone before others so if he wants to keep this a secret it must the Holy Grail of all pods.

Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 42
By the way, the reason I asked him is because IMO even people who are pretty well planned for the bye rounds typically only get 12 or 13 for the first now and then perhaps the same sometimes less in the next round.
What I was interested in, is what is the tradeoff in going so hard for the byes that gives you nearly the full deck each round? How busted are you for trades, how busted are you in terms of the guns you dont and won't have? and how busted are you for sacrificing potentially great CCs.
My initial impression from Matts team was that he's actually looking a lot more solid that I would have expected (hope you dont mind me sharing that mate).
As always, I'll be interested in seeing how his team progresses. My team sux so I need something to do lol!

Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 42
My plan is pretty simple: Get rid of shit players and get good players
How this happens is another story
Being serious though, I'm looking at R14 as being pretty important because it's a 4 trade round in between R12 and R16 where hopefully I can move on Mahoney (keeper??), Rein, Tolman, Carty, maybe CNK etc etc for guns around then (likely removing Lawrie, Morgan, CHT soon)

Nikorima a good shout at warriors? Could suit him having green being the level headed half controlling the game and Niko being more of a ball runner, especially with all the second phase footy the warriors have.

DBrown update from a recent article
Brown insists he won't rush back this year after an impressive three games to start his NRL career, even conceding there's a slim chance he won't play again this year if his back doesn't completely heal.
"If the back's not right, 100 per cent [I won't play again this year]," Brown said. "It would just be silly if I do. Brad and [the coaching staff] are behind me and they want me to be honest so I'll be honest with them. I'm actually feeling good and my back is getting better.
"[But] if I'm honest I don't [have a return date]. I'm just trying to go off the pain tolerance. I might get a scan and it could look good, but unless I'm feeling good I won't be able to play."

Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 42
A couple of years ago I was in with a genuine chance at taking out overall in VSDT.
I had my trades planned down in extreme detail. Had a sheet going with my ytrades every week over the byes, and who was coming in when. Was going to have 16/17 players in every bye round (this was back when they had multiple bye rounds)
Then Jake Friend got injured in the 3rd minute just before a bye round, then a couple weeks later Manu Ma'u did the same thing and missed a few weeks.
I was the only person in the top 10 to have them both and it cost me my shot at glory.
There were 1 or 2 other things that went against me, but they were either pretty minor or impacted everyone at the top.
Prolonged grumpiness over that is a big reason why I don't spend too much time bye planning these days (that and the new bye format makes it less important/useful for extensive bye planning)

Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 42
I remember that season Milch - You and I were both battling it out for a while that year.
While I can completely understand how you would feel after that. I'll counter that with last years winner of VSDT who I know. He bye planned about as much as you did, but in contrast he literally got all the luck over the byes. All the crappy guys and CCs he had in there just for the byes scored 40-50 (form memory guys like Douiehi, Cogger, Coote), fringe origin players like Crichton and Arrow who other players had got called up for Origin, so with that + additional by planning and full trading he had a few extra numbers than the other top 10 guys. He put on 300 points on 2nd in the first bye round.
That came at a bit of a cost in the 2nd bye round where he lost ~150 points.
Net gain was ~150.
He ended up winning the comp by about 30 points from memory!

My plan is to be in the number 1 spot by the end of the season, win some KFC in the process, and have at least another 40 page 51 parties

He’s going nowhere this year. Bank on it with every cent you’ve got.

Its my detailed trade plan. Dont see anyone else sharing theirs either.
I’ll share mine. Save trades where you can and don’t sell/buy at the wrong time with the wrong player.
I’ll share yours. Sell Cook and Fifita. Bring in Moses. Captain him.
Done.

There's a bunch of us here that will often say, it takes skill to get into the top 100, but to actually win it you need a bit of luck.
I probably should bye plan more than I do however. (Might have started with Mahoney if I did)
