So I was just checking the Foxtel guide, but are some games (like the season opener) only available in HD?

Is there any other way to watch game 1 (after all with both Broncs D/ST and Cam Newton - this is a game I wanna watch)

    All Leagues

Due to promotion/Relegation being active in all leagues minus promotion in L1 and Relegation in L3, we need to amended the division within the leagues all to the same IE. all West or all East, this is to ensure our promotion/relegation criteria can be met.

Promotion criteria is overall winner of league and the playoff winner from Leagues 2 and 3
Relegation criteria is the bottom 2 teams after R15 from Leagues 1 and 2

Playoffs currently set to 4 teams starting R16, but can be amended to 6 starting R15 if preferred? the second options ensures everyone plays everyone exactly twice over the season

If the overall winner also wins the playoff final then the playoff runner up will get promoted...

Any problems or suggested tweeks, let me know

Whoops hit post before I was done. Anyway, this is my first time playing NFL fantasy let alone drafting for one lol so I went more with my gut feeling, skeletal knowledge and some input from friends than anything else.

Julio Jones - shakes off minor lower leg injuries often so expecting him to play week 1. Tied with Antonio Brown for most receptions last year so all he has to do is find the endzone more often and they should be more even score (and fantasy) wise. Personal favourite.

Le'Veon Bell - dear god I swear if he is suspended again or injured this season I will cry lol when he's on the pitch he will score so many points. So fingers crossed the points damage isn't too great in the first few weeks.

Aaron Rodgers - downer of a year last year, but definitely hoping he can regain some lost form especially with Jordy Nelson actually playing this year.

Jarvis Landry - preseason has showed he will be the number one target at the Dolphins again this season. Hoping new offensive structure leads to longer routes and more touchdowns. Didn't consider PPR (or lack thereof, rather) when picking but ehhh life's a bitch sometimes.

Greg Olsen - I feel he is the most consisent TE in the league besides Gronk. Newton will favour him (as always) which bodes well for good scoring.

Kelvin Benjamin - if he can overcome last season's ACL tear, he promises to be the prime target of Cam Newton. I am expecting double figure touchdowns!

DeAngelo Williams - will (hopefully) be a points machine in first month with Bell suspended. Top drawer handcuff option thereafter. Deliberately drafted both so hoping it doesn't backfire.

Jason Witten - looking at him as back up, but at least he should be reliable if/when called upon.

DeVante Parker - sounds cliche but how he goes depends on how Miami goes as a whole I feel. Probably injured for at week 1 but doubled up with Landry by mistake which actually works for the first round at least.

Matt Jones - picked more on potential than anything else.

Kevin White - back to full fitness after a write-off 15/16 season. Has 2nd WR berth locked up at Bears and with that, a really high ceiling

Raiders D/ST - actually thought I had queued the Cardinals but my phone had died around Round 10 so I was going blind from there. Not unhappy with this pick though.

Steven Hauschka - wanted a top 5 kicker from last season and got one. It didn't really bother me which of the top 5 I got lol.

Derek Carr - happy with this auto pick. Carr isn't too shabby, but hopefully doesn't end the season rubbish like last time.
Antonio Gates - auto picked. Actually know little to nothing about him to be honest.

    nice write up mate

gates is a hall of fame TE I would dump Witten for some extra RB depth and keep Gates as a secondary TE option

Here we go lads - the team to beat (L3)

Round 1) Julio Jones (pick 5) – I actually thought I was going to get either Gurley or Johnson at pick 5 but very happy to get Julio who could easily have gone as high as #2 IMO. 2nd only to Brown last year he is an elite WR and will kill it this year.

Round 2) Rob Gronkowski (pick 12) – Pick of the draft IMO. I can’t believe I got him at pick 12…. Best TE by a long way, not much more to say really.

Round 3) Brandon Marshal (pick 21) – RBs seemed to be the story of the draft as people kept picking them up in the early rounds leaving great picks on the board at WR. Happy to get Marshal this deep in the draft. League leader in TD receptions last year!

Round 4) Brandin Cooks (pick 28) – Same old story, RBs were still the focus for most managers I was pretty happy to pick up Cooks as my flex player. NO will be improved this year and I expect Cooks to put up bigger numbers particularly under the dome (not my favourite pick this draft but will see how he pans out).

Round 5) Latavius Murray (pick 37) – Needed to hit up the RBs and Murray was the best on the board at this time. Apparently OAK will be run heavy this season which bodes well for Murray who was the 11th ranked RB last season. Pretty solid pick up I reckon for pick 5.

Round 6) Ryan Mathews (pick 44) – Completed my RB 1st stringers with the best RB on the board and actually a pretty solid pick given it was round 6. With the failed experiment of Philly’s last season behind them Mathews is now RB1 for Philly so I expect much better production out of him this year.

Round 7) Drew Brees (pick 53) – Pretty happy to get an elite QB at this point in the draft. Brees is pretty much guaranteed to put up fantastic numbers every home game, and in general is a top 5 QB most weeks.

Round Cool Duke Johnson (pick 60) – This fullah is a bit of a sleeper this year in many people’s eyes! A threat both on the ground and in the air he will improve on last year, the question is how much. Could easily work his way into my starting lineup!

Round 9) Travis Kelce (pick 69) – Back up TE in case Gronk were to go down. A bit of a steel at Rnd 9. Kelce was the number 7 ranked last year but has been ranked as high as #3 in many lists.

Round 10) Desean Jackson (pick 76) – Desean was injury plagued last season but by all accounts is healthy now, and when he’s health he is gold. Will be a solid enough replacement at WR if needed and to be honest may even take the flex spot when health as he is a >10 ppg guy when he’s on his game. Not sure how he dropped down the board so far, perhaps he was off people’s radar due to the numbers he put up last year, but remember numbers don’t tell the full story!!

Round 11) Carson Palmer (pick 85) – Another pick where I was amazed I could get a stud this far down the draft. As much as he will be a legit elite QB and probable starter in my line up some weeks, it is just as satisfying to make sure no-one else could get him. Palmer in Rnd 11? Damn, some of you fullahs must be light at QB!!

Round 12) DeVante Parker (pick 92) – Took a bit of a punt here on Parker. This pick could turn out to be a bust, or it could be gold. It really depends on how he is used. He put up some great numbers at the end of last season, but its not looking great for that to continue into 2016. He is also under an injury cloud so I’ll give him a few weeks and see how he pans out. My 5th WR so not too worried if he’s a flop.

Round 13) Broncos D/ST (pick 101) – I can’t believe I got the #1 D at pick 13. Seriously!! Ave>10 ppg last season, they will do the same this season too! Insane, love this pick! (I note Welshy was happy to draft them in Rnd 10!!)

Round 14) Adam Vinatieri (pick 108) – Very happy to be able to get who I think will be the #2 ranked K this season! With my second to last pick to get a top ranked starter, I thought this pick was gold too!!

Round 15) Bilal Powell (pick 117) – Tried to add some RB depth with my last pick. Unlikely he’ll see much game time for me, or the JETS for that matter, but if Forte goes down, Powell will be solid. Can afford to keep him on my roster at this stage.

Post by Mearcats Wed Sep 07, 2016 1:31 pm

Taken me some time but thought I'd get my team up for a review. At the time of the draft I was at a mates birthday party (and trying to draft on my phone) which included strippers, jacuzzis, poles and a lot of alcohol so in as much as I went ok, I could've payed a lot more attention. Lol.

    The Mearcats in L2.

Round 1 - OBJ (Pick 2) - Pretty happy with this. With absolutely no idea about the game (seen two games in my entire life) and the speed of the draft etc I basically just grabbed whoever my ADP calculator said to. I had done some homework but not enough to be confident. I''m sure Junior will go fine tho.

Round 2 - Jordy Nelson (Pick 15) - Picking second means that I basically was watching all of the top teir boys walk out the door before I got another shot so tried to get some upside players as well as a mix of young guns.

Round 3 - Eddie Lacy (Pick 18) - My first RB. Could be in line for a decent year according to a few analysts. God knows tho! Hahaha. I'm banking on them having more of an idea than I did.

Round 4 - Demaryius Thompson (Pick 31) - Doesn't seem to get a lot of love but there were some guys out there that rate him. This was my 3rd WR leaving me quite shallow in the RB stocks. Hoping what people say about it being geared more towards WR's this year is right tho that seems to be a very 50/50 split argument.

Round 5 - Jeremy Maclin (Pick 34) - I like what I've heard about this bloke. And not from Random. Random rates him I know but we all know he's shit at all things fantasy! Hahaha. Seems like he has a lot of potential and upside so we'll see.

Round 6 - Jeremy Hill (Pick 47) - Finally another RB. By this time there was bugger all left so I just grabbed a guy off the top of the pile. Little idea of who he is or how he'll go.

Round 7 - Drew Brees (Pick 50) - A second tier QB with a heap of potential, I was pretty happy with this pick up. With some QB's going as early as round 3!!! this was an easy decision as no Newton etc left.

Round 8 - Melvin Gordon (Pick 63) - Had my eyes on Golden Tate this round from the very beginning but unfortunately with Archer and Krump unable to join for the draft Archer snapped him up one position before me! BASTARD! Lol. I took MG for a bit of RB depth as the next pick instead.

Round 9 - Ameer Abdullah (Pick 66) - Seems to be the NFL version of NRL's MCK but I've got my fingers crossed that he'll finally have the season that people were predicting he would last year. Could be a bit of trade bait if he does or may give me the opportunity to dangle someone else if he goes really well.

Round 10 - Zach Ertz (Pick 79) - If you don't have Gronk you don't have a TE worth talking about apparently so I'll just shuddup and leave it at that.

Round 11 - DeSean Jackson (Pick 82) -  (99% sure this was a "time's running out, STRESS STRESS STRESS!!!"autopick for me. Will wait and see what becomes of it.

Round 12 - Michael Crabtree (Pick 95) - I'm ok with this pick. At the time I was pissed about it but over the last day or so I've read up a bit and am comfortable with it. More so than I am with Ameer at least.

Round 13 - Cardinals D/ST (Pick 98) - With absolutely no idea who is in the defensive special teams for ANY team let alone the Cardinals, I just grabbed em cos they were top of the list.

Round 14 - Philip Rivers (Pick 111) - I like the possibility that Rivers could go well and wanted another option for Justin (just in case) Brees goes poo.

Round 15 - Roberto Aguayo (Pick 114) - Highest ranked kicker left. Lol.

So there she be. I'm crossing fingers, toes and every other flexible appendage that I have in the hopes that I'll at least be competitive throughout the year.

The way I see it there are 2 options.

    1. The way you propose it. 1 8 team division, 1st in regular season gets promotion, 4 teams make playoffs, Super Bowl winner gets promotion unless already no1 then SB runner up gets promotion. Bottom 2 teams relegated.

    2. Keep 2 by 4 team divisions, top 2 in each division make play offs, winner of east and west division playoff get promotion, bottom team from each division relegated.

I'm happy with either of those scenarios. Either way we should be able to play everyone twice rds1-14 then start play offs

Only issue I have with the 2 divisions is with only 4 teams in them is the ease of finishing top 2 IMO and one division could be heavily loaded, with the 8 teams in one league the overall winner is a slog and becomes deserved champion and the playoffs with 6 teams becomes a crapshoot and also offers less chance the overall winner takes out both with extra teams in there and doesn't give second placed team promotion (first is first, second is last) was my thinking....

with 6 playoff teams (top 6) we could play each other exactly twice which is fair and start the playoffs week 15 (1st & 2nd get a bye) 3rd v 6th, 4th v 5th with the winner advancing to week 16 semi final?

I would vote for option 1. Need to have some reward for winning SB. Would be a bit hollow to win the league only to find the teams you just beat in the playoffs promoted ahead of you.

An 8 team division with 6 playoff teams also keeps everyone interested over the entire season I reckon?

No.1 overall at end of week 14 gets automatic promotion
1-6 on the ladder make the playoffs. 1st and 2nd get byes
    winner of playoffs get promoted

I'm going to go with this unless there is any massive upheaval from the majority against it
