In all seriousness, he's only played two games of senior football. I hate the way the media build up these kids when they are making their debuts. So much pressure and expectation to live up to.

Yeah I feel the same, and then you get the ones that play some amazing footy in their first game/year (ie Isaako) and then theyre expected to play like that week in week out.

I am just trading towards a final team as efficiently as I can now. Will be killing #20 and #21 with two of Kerr/Coates/Walters this week.

My 19th man is already Staggs. He isn't scoring too badly in a bad side. 18th is shaping up to be Mahoney, or Watson.

I am trading out Lomax and Kenny this week, so its no real loss there..

I have burned more trades than I'd hoped to in the last few weeks knee jerking trading in response to injuries, which means I am running pretty tight post round 18.

There hasn't been a week in the last month that has gone to plan so there is probably no point planning now.

I am most likely burning spot 20 as well (and 19 the week after), that why i asked if its too early. I guess it depends on how many trades left. I think ill have a team like this for rd 17 and beyond with 3 trades left.

    Cook
    Fifita Hass
    Murray Lolo Matterson
    SJ DCE
    Bateman Nikora
    Ponga Teddy Turbo
    Smith McInnis Taupau RTS
Watson Kerr Brittian cheapest ctr cover

think its strong enough to climb a few ranks, currently 595 and hoping to get top 150 maybe?

I don't know if there's much difference between 1 trade (but coverage for every position) or 2 trades (no coverage for CTR and WFB). Assuming scenario where I'll need to rely on both 17th and 18th man (probably next week ha ha) their averages are basically exactly the same (using Mann's average as starter, SJ's non-injury average and 35-36 for Burns who has 40 average including injury but with attacking stats). But if TTurbo isn't backing up with Twal + Mann I would be using Coates and with SJ + Burns I would have Burns as WFB

Having cover for every position prevents going down to 16 if I cop a 1 week suspension to positions not covered

My Thoughts, will have 1-2 trades for the run home but coverage in all positions.

4 trades for me this week leaves 6 for the run home, two of them planned upgrades with 4 for injuries

Havili, Martin, Finucane, CNK Arrow McInnes, SJ, Fusitu’a, Walters
Leaves me with 509k to grab Cook and a keeper half in the next few weeks

    Smith, McInnes, Fainu
    Haas, Twal, Taupau
    Murray, Matterson, Taumalolo, Crichton
    Munster, SJ
    Nikora, Bateman, Lomax, Staggs
    Tedesco, RTS, Ponga, Fusitu’a

Cover at all positions with a bit of shuffling around

Just had a look this will be my coverage for the run home with 1 trade left:

    HOK x 4
    FRF x 4
    2RF x 6
    HLF x 6
    CTR x 3
    WFB x 4

Then whoever my 17th man will cover (740K)

    Of course you can!!

All depends on what you are trying to get out of the year. I had 1 trade for the run home last year, used it prior to round 20 and I survived with a good ranking.

It all depends on how much risk you want to take at the expense of potential reward.

The whole, how many trades argument/discussion people keep having is actually a discussion about risk/reward and is all relative to the way people play the game. There is no right answer!

Ok I've decided to trade Ponga because I already have RTS, Tedesco, Turbo as my premium wfb's & I need some halves in my team so SJ will come in. I'm only using 1 trade which will leave me with 3 left after the Ponga trade but it gives me 294k bank so it gives me the scope to bring back the likes of Fifita with 1 trade & maybe Ponga depending on how he gets over his calf injury. They reckon Ponga will only miss 2 games but calf injuries are tricky. He said he injured the calf due to his cork on the other leg so he was favouring the leg he got the calf injury on. For me having a big bank balance is key so I only need to use 1 trade.
    Smith (c)
    Haas (vc), Twal
    SJ, Watson
    Nikora, Xerri
    RTS

I think the better question to ask is not how many trades will people have for the run home, but how many trades will:

    Verbal
    MTB
    Booze
    Zazu
    Green Machine
    Danseels
    QASXZ
    The Dragons?

have.... These are the guys that are killing it this year (and some of them killed it last year too!!)

Nice. Looks good. I would personally be looking at Cleary as my half if I was you. Probably for 18/19.

I have also burnt four trades this week leaving me with five remaining and 160k ITB:
    1. Murray to McInnes. Murray will average 45 from here, potentially not playing 17 or have a low score.
    2. Fisher-Harris to Tevaga. Expect 50+ average from him for the rest of the year.
    3. Taukeiaho to Matterson. Borderline keeper to a POD keeper.
    4. Watson to Johnson. Watson is done making cash. Johnson a borderline keeper.

All players brought in play 16 as apposed to trade-outs, with Watson the exception. Next week I sell Manu and Papenhuyzen to Fifita and a cheapie leaving me with enough funds to bring in Cook, have someone like Johnson/Tevaga/Pearce as 18th and Xerri as 19th.

    Team this week:

    McInnes (C)
    Haas Taupau
    Matterson Taumalolo Trbojevic
    Pearce Ponga
    Nikora Bateman
    Trbojevic Tuivasa-Sheck Tedesco

    Smith Mahoney Tevaga Johnson

    Manu Papenhuyzen Xerri Carrigan

Correct me if I'm wrong but Farnworth is in the top 30 and Coates is not so Coates can't play unless there are a number of injuries.
As soon as Oates is back, Coates won't be able to be selected. Then Greyworm comes back and they're both gone unless Boyd gets the boot.

I haven't seen either of them play but there seems to be hype around Coates and none around Farnworth even though it seems the Broncos see it the other way around?

I'll have more trades than last season. That doesn't mean I'm 100% comfortable with it - this season has been a bit of a injury/resting nightmare and I'm sure it'll continue. Last season I had zero trades for the last 5 or 6 rounds (from memory) - I kept quiet about it at the time Very Happy

Being two players down this round (SST & Milf - not counting Fifita) has my head in a spin and I might burn another trade. That's ~100 points gone vs what I expected so making a trade eases this pain a bit.

The top 30 rule is dropped after round 16 through until end of season. Any player from any team can play. This change has been brought in this year with immediate effect.

Trades are over rated anyways. Might actually get some work done once I take the option to make trades off the table

More trades left and I'd say a better team than last year as well. It's hard to say without knowing the trades left of the other contenders and I don't want to put the mock on but you're looking very very good for top spot.

Whats this thing about top 30? So say all things fall in place would Coates be able to play on for the year? If not I would go Farnworth?

This seems to suggest Coates was upgraded to the top 30
