Problem with the Black Caps is the lack of up and coming players that can cut it at the top level.

No guys like Khan (both of them), Pant, Fernando that I can think of straight away

There's no one to be excited about really.

Obviously not a problem this World Cup. But I think teams like Pakistan and West Indies could be interesting to follow over the next few years

    Yeah two in two weeks.

He was out quite bad, started convulsing a little. You'd think he might have a month or so on the sidelines ala Keary (though I'm just guessing)

Not really mate, looked into that avenue.

The only option I'm kinda okay with is SST/Xerri > Bateman/Burns but even then not sure that's worth 2 of my 4 remaining trades and no cash.

Will reassess next week I think Smile

After last night mate, I think you gotta get Cook somehow. He's gonna monster the last two months.

Queensland lose when they came so close. Heartbroken.
NZ win when I thought they were going to throw it away. Relief and jubilation.

What an emotional rollercoaster of a night.

Five hours sleep and I have nothing in the tank at work today. Gonna be a tough slog.

Congrats NSW, better team all series. Queensland did not want it enough.

I'm so tired & it's been mentioned but it was a great night to be a NSW Kiwi & as usual our bowlers/fielders win us the game. The stars aligned & NZ got to bowl in perfect conditions for their bowlers. When this happens the NZ swing bowlers with Ferguson are probably the most dangerous swing/fast bowling unit in world cricket. Tbh I never watched the S.O.O. at all as I watched the cricket.

Agree, although we did want it last night. Could have gone either way at the end, but ultimately, the better team won.

I’m so torn on when to get Cook. I can grab him this week but I’ve been so sure he’ll score poor/average this week and lose decent cash, which could prove valuable later if I hold off one more week? So unsure...

If I thought he’d score around 60 this week I’d pull the trigger. People think he’ll back up with another big score?

With Murray playing "only" 32 mins and Lowe playing 80 you'd have to think that Murray should be more likely to back up and play fair chunk of mins, given Lowe usually subs for Murray during the game

How does the psychological effect of being on high vs low affect players backing up if at all? I guess the late mail will start flowing in today anyway

Cook copped a couple of knocks and was down for a minute in the first half. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him rested. I reckon Sua comes in for Lowe and Murray plays.

If Guptil comes decent in the final will be due to law of averages, he’s been absolutely terrible. When your other opening partner/s also ain’t cutting it got to be down to the more experienced one to put the team on his back.

Would go as far to say he will only get another go because of how good his fielding has been and due to the lack of options at NZ disposal. Munro and Nicholls will get demolished against England/Aus opening attack

His performance with the bat against India would have to be one of the worst I've seen in a while.
Looked horrid. I don't think he has it in him now

I think Murray plays too.  With Surgess back and the team near full strength, it would be wise to fully rest Cook I reckon.

Considering some of the other strange turns this thread takes you should just be grateful that we're talking about sport.

Munro is a turd but Nicholls is a lot better than you're giving him credit for here.

I think Guptil used his moment already running MS out cracker of a shot

The reason I really like cricket compared to a lot of other sports is because every losing captain is always gracious in defeat. They tell it like it is & praise the opposition who deserved to win. I just heard Kohli on the radio & the man is class. For example when was the last time you heard a tennis player say the other player was better....never because they always put up some excuse like injury, I was feeling tired & on & on & on.

I reckon its often off an origin loss that players come back to club fired up and wanting ot get out there.

Off a series win can see some players switch off a bit.

Depends on the player I guess. Obviously, if you're in form, then you're in form.

The trouble with NZ is that unlike India, OZ, etc, our domestic competition is pretty average. As a result young players dont typically get high level of competition. Therefore its quite uncommon for NZ to bring in young fullahs like Inida do because they simply havent gotten up to speed yet, they tend as a result to mostly come through in their mid 20s. That said there is some pretty good talent coming through. Expect to see the following guys around and in the Black Caps for the next decade (bolded guys are the ones I think will be really good):

    Glenn Phillips (22)
    Seifert (24)
    Chapman (25)
    Will Young (25)
    Tickner (25)
    Sodhi (26)
    Tom Bruce (27)
    Santner (27)
