I’m excited about being a Turbo owner this week as he was pretty quiet last night so I see no way he’s rested, and hopefully he comes out hoping to display some of what he did in Origin 2.

The trouble with NZ is that unlike India, OZ, etc, our domestic competition is pretty average. As a result young players dont typically get high level of competition. Therefore its quite uncommon for NZ to bring in young fullahs like Inida do because they simply havent gotten up to speed yet, they tend as a result to mostly come through in their mid 20s. That said there is some pretty good talent coming through. Expect to see the following guys around and in the Black Caps for the next decade (bolded guys are the ones I think will be really good):
Glenn Phillips (22)
Seifert (24)
Chapman (25)
Will Young (25)
Tickner (25)
Sodhi (26)
Tom Bruce (27)
Santner (27)
Will Young scored back-to-back centuries against a full strength Aussie team in a couple of warm up games in Aussie just before the world cup. There were calls to actually get him into the squad due to his form but it didn't happen.

Guptill = 16 ODI 100s, 35 50s - The guy is class and has been for a number of years. You dont turf a guy like that because of a run of bad form. But as said, NZ dont have other options so he will be there by default.
As said, Nicholls innings v India was very under-rated, Laid the platform for the rest of the team to kick on to a winning total. He is class too and people forget he was actually the incumbent before his injury.
I've got faith in these two...

Got injured and had surgery. The kid is going to be awesome and if fit, I think we would have seen him in this one-day team in the CWC for sure (given the poor form of others). He'll be around for many years. All Class.

Fair enough prob a bit sideways with last trades if it means Bateman a key 2RF not centre. If SST is your #17 I actually don’t mind it. Think Burns is DPP gold and think SST lost most of his true/differential value when he didn’t play R16. Friend and Cordner back, that pack is going to settle down and see some rotation in the middleLiverpool_Bulldog wrote:
Not really mate, looked into that avenue.
The only option I'm kinda okay with is SST/Xerri > Bateman/Burns but even then not sure that's worth 2 of my 4 remaining trades and no cash.
Will reassess next week I think

Bateman would be in the CTRs.
Would have Lolo, Taupau, Murray at 2RF with Tevaga and Martin on the bench.

They tell it like it is & praise the opposition who deserved to win. I just heard Kohli on the radio & the man is class. For example when was the last time you heard a tennis player say the other player was better....never because they always put up some excuse like injury, I was feeling tired & on & on & on.
Tennis players have gracious interviews after defeat all the time. You just don't see it in the media because they'd rather talk about Kyrgios smashing racquets etc.
I think most sports the captains will be gracious in defeat. See it all the time.
Didn't hear DCE's post match last night but I am sure he would've been.
Funnily enough, I can't stand Kohli. Says all the right things but comes across super arrogant. A bit OTT but I guess you have to be some kind of crazy to be at that level in any sport.

I'm not here to defend Kohli, but I reckon he has the toughest captaincy job in the world. As you said, there is a level of crazy required to be able to handle that job.
I have seen a couple of more personalised interviews with him where he seems alot more groudned than he comes across in some media conferences.

One of my favourite cricket memories was watching Guppy's ODI debut at Eden Park. We were sitting in amongst the players families as I got tickets through a friend in the squad and we had his Dad sitting behind us.
When he tonned up, it was amazing. His Dad didn't know where he was, what to do, how to act. Was completely dumbstruck. Incredible moment.

You're right, the pressure on him in that role as captain must be some of the toughest in the world.
Good that he seems grounded in other interviews, my opinion is just how I see him in those press conferences and how he acts on the field so its hard to know what someone like that is really like.

I think he's an arrogant prick as well but can't argue with anything you've said. When you're as good as he is you've earned a bit of an attitude anyway.my tv broke wrote:

Yeah people in India love cricket & the cricketers are seen to be like gods. The pressure on Kohli & the team would be immense & it's an extreme type of pressure that most teams & players in other countries don't experience. I remember reading on Dhoni's b'day thousands of fans turned up to his house to wish him happy b'day. I think the same happened when he went for a haircut thousands of fans were there.

Heartbroken. Distraught. Regret. Some of the feelings going through me today. So close. I give it to NSW, done just enough to beat QLD B side No but in all seriousness was looking like it was going to be another shit game but it came good and was right down to the wire. Let's bring on the weekend!
