Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 83
warning: self-indulgent post again..
Just having a look at this weeks matches. Where I finish up is going to come down to Sunday's Tigers vs Sharks match... with Fifita, Matterson, and Xerri all in my side. Fifita and Xerri aren't owned by any of the teams around me, and Matterson is only owned by 5th place... might need to crack a nice bottle of scotch for that one. Could be anything! Whether SJ plays or not may not matter as it doesn't look like anyone has a full 17 anyway (don't know their trade situations though). Ponga will go round in the Sunday 4pm game, but all of the teams own him.
*actually just noticed 3rd has JFH in the 4pm game.
Sidenote - sad news but it looks like Fifita was in Tonga 4 days ago for his pops funeral, which must of been prior to their game on the weekend. Could explain lack of minutes, although probably not.

You have permission to self-indulge when you are ranked inside the top 5. It's going to be an interesting round for the top teams.my tv broke wrote:warning: self-indulgent post again..

If you win they should just give you a job to completely redesign NRL Fantasy as we know it.
Maybe they'll remember you are the lad that stole their business from them and will rig it so you don't win.

Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 83
Marsters headed out of Tiger Town. Cowboys and Bulldogs ready to go big on the NZ Centre with Tigers to throw all their eggs in the Ramien basket if Marsters leaves.
Seems C.Scott may no longer be on the cards for the Tigers.
Marsters is exactly what Cowboys needs. A hard running, big bodied, tackle busting, offloading Centre who can create that go forward and second phase play for players like Morgan, Drinkwater, Feldt to play off. If Marsters could move to right Ctr he and feldt would be a great Combo. Too bad Nene ain't there anymore.
Next step for Cowboys.... Make Clifford train the house down with JT over the off-season or go all in for a High Calibre half to let Morgo do his thing.

Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 83
Having a look back at my captain choices since the start of the season.
Rounds 1-11 I did a pick-and-stick with Cook but entering the bye rounds there were choices and I haven't stuck with the same captain for more than three weeks (until this weekend where Haas will be my captain for the fourth week in a row).
From rounds 12-24, looking at my captain pick vs who was most likely my other best option at the time, I gained 137 points.
Key highlights:
Picking Tauamalolo (103) over Taupau (55) in round 12.
Picking Bateman (63) over Cook (29) in round 13 - Brittain on the bench was the decider
First time I captained Haas for his 100 in round 22 over Cook (70).
Round 24 Haas (75) over Cook (48).
Biggest low was Haas (57) over Cook (80) in round 23 however the three rounds of Haas over Cook in isolation I have made up 34 points, so more than 10 points a round on average by choosing Haas over Cook.
Bottom line, I am pretty stoked with my captain choices throughout the year - captain Cook for his 98, Lolo for his 103 and Haas for his 100, it's been some poor trades that have kept me out of the top 100.

That's a solid captaincy average. I should have gone with Captain Cook for the first 12 rounds at least...filthridden wrote:Also an interesting one is that my captain choice throughout the year has averaged 69.
Next season Haas or Cook would probably be the way to go Captaincy wise

Mine
Round 1 Rank = ~12630
End Rank = ~200
Missed captain opportunities, and standard unlucky stuff, but ok

Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 83
Round 1 Rank - 1429
Lowest Rank - 4418 (R3)
Highest Rank - 326 (R15)
Current Rank - 1202
Overall, my season was off to a decent start as most were with a 1000+ in R1. Jumped back to reality around R3 and slowly made up ground as I traded pretty aggressively early on. Had 11 players in R12 which helped my fly up the rankings and peak in R15 at 326. I plateaued around 500 for a few weeks around the second bye round and since running out of trades in R20 I have pretty much been on a decline. Looking like I will finish around where I started.

Round 1 rank - 2714
Lowest rank - 2787 (R3)
Highest rank - 78 (R22)
Current rank - 80
This season has far surpassed even my wildest expectations, after finishing in the 1400s last year my goal for this season was the top 1000, and since round 9, I haven't left the top 400. Looks like I'll finish somewhere between 60 and 130 unless something goes horribly wrong this week, and I think I'm better placed than a lot of teams (if both Munster and SJ are out, I have 16 players)

Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 83
We are pretty hard on ourselves in here, I would guess largely because the community as a whole is very knowledgable and does very well.
1-10 - God tier
11- 100 - Exceptional season. Crazy how many in here have managed this.
100-1000 - Great year, be proud of a ranking in the top 1,000 as it's nothing to be scoffed at even for veterans with their own high standards.
Top 1,000-5,000 - still decent, better than your average fantasy player - if it's your first or second year and you're achieving this result that is fantastic.
Outside the top 5,000 - Next year is your year! You still beat over 100,000 other entries if you're in the top 10,000. Assuming about 30-40k are active entries you're still in the top third of the comp at least.

That second placed teams depth with two trades in hand is insane.
Edit: Is two trades left heading into R25 actually wasting resources?
