I enjoy watching a good game... I just shake my head at the officiating. I feel sorry for the Raiders fans, Canberra deserved to win

In his post match interview, Cronk implies that the Roosters won despite the refereeing

I didn't think it was six again, but once you've waved your arm I suppose you have to stick with it. Roosters just about deserved that, though Raiders did themselves proud. Wighton MoM and if Friend isn't there to come off tge bench then Canberra probably win.

Worst thing about the game was the commentators, Jesus Rabs in particular is unbearable

Your probably right, the rorters seemed to have em covered in defense, but when the main referee (who had a good angle and clear view of the incident) overturns his own call in a situation like that, it has now tainted the whole game for everyone except rortersfans

Lol NRL is happy, the Rorters won, Uncle Nick paying off everyone

Embarrassing decision that cost the Raiders the game

One thing that always gets coached is to play the whistle, even if you think its a wrong call, but how do you coach if the whistle can't be trusted either. If the ball had gone out into touch, or a Raiders player had been tackled without a chance to do anything, then its acceptable to change the call. But they'd clearly made decisions based on 6-again being signalled so its harsh to take it away.

The earlier issue with the charge down hitting the trainer is just bad luck, and nothing to do with the refs at all, who couldn't really do anything else (without going all Phil Gould and just making up rules to suit themselves)

And because commentators/media spend all their time working fans into a frenzy over any little thing the refs do, there's a rabid fan base who are actively looking to be pissed off by the refs, and now they've been given the excuse to go batshit

Also, why do people think the NRL got "the result they wanted"

Feel good stories about Canberra being back in the Grand Final after 25 years far outweighed any puff pieces about Cronk retiring

If the NRL really wanted to rig it so Canberra lost, they would have done it a long time before the 70th minute. Can't mistakes just be mistakes without a grand conspiracy

I agree about the grand conspiracy point - i.e. there wasn't one, but man, that 6-again call was massive. IN a tight game that was the deciding call and I expect Ricky to be blowing up until at least Wednesday

I think its cause the story of the year has been rosters going back to back. If you think back over the last 5 or 6yrs the game seems to be going to a script, where whoever they talk about at start of year goes on to win (think cowboys, sharks rabbitohs). Also, through tpa (i don't believe the rubbish they don't use em) rosters have amassed a team so far beyond the salary cap it puts what the storm did all those years ago to shame. Though unlike the storm, the rosters are smarter and working within the rules and probably are under the salary cap, they just manipulate other incentives better.

Canberra only got the stories this week, rosters had an all year. Next year will be the same. No one can touch em now, rosters for a threepeat. Only thing that can stop them dominating the near future is if enough fans turn off from the game as they feel it is biased towards certain clubs.

Lose enough money and maybe something gets done about the tpa situation, but we will have to sit through a few more years until then.

Hypothetically what would the reaction be in the following circumstance? The Roosters had put a bomb up on the last and it bounces back into their hands. The refs call 6 again (incorrectly) and then change their decision mid play to rule a handover. And then the Raiders go up the other end and scored - how outraged would people be.
Fury at the refs for changing the call - or a sense of 'justice' for the Raiders of the refs getting the tight call in the end

Uncle Nick wins again, blatant bias I knew this is how it would end!

An absolute joke, no wonder fans are walking away, it’s not a level playing field!

I'm a bit confused too. Why is the conspiracy that the NRL wanted the Roosters to win?

That’s just NRL fans going full NRL fans, it’s not enough for refs to make a pretty big error, it has to be corruption and a conspiracy too.

The 6 again reversal was rough - hard to expect players to hear you verbally overturn a hand signal with that crowd noise. It definitely turned the game, and was definitely the wrong call (even if it was the right call, if that makes sense).

A few hours after the game, having been online a bit, I was at the stage of “well, NRL fans would complain about reffing no matter what, might as well make it count”.

Overall, an amazing defensive game until the set of six after the call. The Raiders should’ve done more in the previous 30 but this Roosters team is too good.

Politis has the NRL in his pocket, otherwise the Rorters would be on the same salary cap as everyone else
