Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 85
Being at the game the crowd being Raiders strong tended to react to every decision that didn't go their way. Apart from the odd square up which has become part of the game the refs weren't swayed by the crowd. That didn't stop them ruining the game with not bad, but attrocious decisions which impacted the way the game was played. I'd challenge anyone to predict a score if but and why decisions had of been different. Without a redo, we have no other opportunity but to accept it, sack the referress boss for such a shit appointment and drop these guys.

Money talks
They are on the same salary cap as everyone else.
Politis is rich but you’ve got plenty of other rich people and corporations involved in the game.

The Rooster trainer that accidentally stopped the ball should get a championship ring

In the 35th minute of the game, Cronk kicks on the last, Tupou jumps and catches it, then flicks it out the back, Mitchel regathers it and they get 6 again. The ball wasn't touched by a Raiders player during this play. Can someone explain to me why the tackle count was reset?

Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 85
The silver lining for me is that it won't be remembered for the Roosters winning, which they may have done anyway, it'll be remembered for the Raiders getting fucked out of the opportunity.
If that Raiders team can stick together and perform well next year, I think they can take advantage of the general sympathy for the loss and they'll find those 50/50s becoming 80/20s in their favour.
The NRL would love a good redemption story come finals next year.
It's only a small window to achieve success though, so hopefully they make a statement the first couple of months next season and reinforce the narrative that they were robbed.

Been looking at some of the SL stats and the incoming Raiders' half George Williams looks pretty promising, dominant kicker and runner even in games they've been flogged (WCC, SL semi final this weekend).
Depending on price, keen on starting with him if he's within 500-600k

Definitely one to consider at that price. Interested to see if the rumours of Angus to Eels and Frizell to Chooks eventuates.

George Williams seems like a risky prospect to me - Jackson Hastings just won the Man of steel and Blake Austin was leading until he got injured, so not entirely convinced in the halves over there. I think the comp styles are too different.
On the other hand there’s a few world class Bateman-level forwards, plenty of Sutton-level guys too. And I’d really like to see Tommy Makinson over here.

I actually backed the direction Annersely was taking the refereeing at the start of the year, particularly in terms of letting the game flow a lot more but the writing was on the wall for a fuck-up of grand final destroying proportions throughout the end of the season and the finals series - especially with the sin binning's e.g. JTurbo, Cody Walker.
And as much as I would have loved the Roosters to lose, the overwhelming disappointment should take nothing away from their premiership - as they were easily the best team post Origin and even looked to have another gear that they never got to utilise (or needed to).
But that said the GF was ruined and I am not buying the post game cop out from Annersely one bit.
In fact it highlights the main issue that the ref's bosses and NRL just don't seem to get.
We want them to strive for consistency and accuracy but not at all costs and certainly not at the expense of good judgement and fairness.
Yes not restarting the set was technically the right call and yes the Roosters fans would be blowing up deluxe had the Raiders scored off an incorrect 6 again; but for 100 years the ref's job is to be decisive and for the same period of time, fans have always preferred fairness over impossible to achieve accuracy/perfection.
Actually agree with you for once NW - sack them all!

Re: NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 85
The only way to get consistency from the refs is to do what they do in American sports. They set up ref teams at the start of the season and those guys stick together the whole year. In league that would mean a 5 man team that works together all year:
1 senior on field ref
1 2nd on field ref
2 touchies
1 back-up
You could get away with 5 teams (25 full time refs) like this with 3 teams a week doing 2 games, rotating throughout the season

You would think those also announced in Australian team will be withdrawals
Josh Addo-Carr, Daly Cherry-Evans, Damien Cook, Boyd Cordner, Nick Cotric, Tyson Frizell, Wade Graham, Payne Haas, Ben Hunt, Luke Keary, David Klemmer, Latrell Mitchell, Cameron Munster, Cameron Murray, Josh Papalii, James Tedesco, Jake Trbojevic, Paul Vaughan, Jack Wighton.

Will Chambers will not be re-signed by Storm for next year (from Storm Facebook page)
Probably expected to an extent with Olam and Scott coming through
Scott decent option for CTR next year, minor injury discount

Looking at that junior kangaroos team Ponga starting in the halves. He's fallen down the pecking order of fullbacks it seems even Papenhuyzen is chosen at fullback over him. Obviously his dramatics like wanting a contract upgrade then playing like shite at the end of the season haven't gone down well with the selectors.

I think you're reading way too much into it, it's more likely that they wanted both in the team and just picked the side that got them both on the field for 80 minutes.
