I need about 5 cheap cashies (228k & 246K) to fill in the gaps for my current draft.

Chuck it up in your rate my team thread.

To Brissy from Sydney $50; Cairns and Melbourne cheap as as well.
To get the $49 flight you have to go up 6am Thursday morning
I'll pay the extra to go up on Friday in sensible hours
Ah bugger.

I'm not even close to picking a team just yet, at first glance I don't hate it. I don't think I'll be picking Haas, but the forum seems equally divided on that so don't take my word for it. I'm not keen on Su'a, just a guess but won't play 80 and will be a mid-ranger. Seems like a decent start, trust me, you will have like a thousand drafts before Thurdsay 12 March.

Just looking at some of these teams. Fanhub has made a real error by trying to 'make it harder" with the price rises. No way they are going to grow fantasy with casual or new players who wont know all the cheapies or role changes or how it works and barely can get any of the players they know in. They'll make a shit team check it twice. Never play again and tell people that
Id be interested to see how fewer registered users they have this year

If the rumoured "prizes" are true, it's a real kick in the guts. When will these cunts realise that fantasy helps grow the game? I wouldn't be the only person who went from watching my team (some years rather casually) to watching 8 games a week once hooked?!

I mean I get MF's concerns which are valid, but I personally don't mind those changes with the pricing. There just seems hardly any promotion other than one guy who writes articles for nrl.com and fuck all prize money. Compare that to supercoach and it's paltry. I've never really tried supercoach properly, like MF alluded to, I've made a team, checked it twice and that was it. Just seems like an easier, luck driven format and besides, it's this forum that makes NRL fantasy great

Why Wade Graham? Doesn't ever go over low 40's. Expecting increased role with the ball hog gone? Better luck with injuries would help I suppose. Priced at 40, something I'm missing?

If they consistently have fewer and fewer people play they get less and less of a budget and the game will die off. I understand that people like the challenge and that's great like many have brought up that the challenge will make for different teams however for the "official" NRL fantasy site I feel they need ot focus on growing it not making changes out of nowhere on assumptions.
I agree with you about the forum I would have left Sportal when it was dying off but luckily Random had the foresight to create this awesome site

But that's my point. They put nothing into it but the benefits from increased fans watching tv (revenue) going to games (revenue) merch (revenue) etc etc would surely outweigh the nothing prizes they have. I have nothing to base it on but decent funding for fantasy should be considered part of marketing/advertising the game. I think someone on here posted in the last year or so about research from the US suggesting as much??? It's probably a different point you're making with regards to the format of the game but I've had my vent now, haha!

Re: NRL Fantasy 2020 Part 2
How long can both competitions continue though (fantasy and supercoach).. it doesn't make a great deal of sense for a major backer of the game to be running Supercoach in competition with NRL Fantasy.
I suspect the NRL under V'Landys are almost happy for Supercoach to be seen as the main fantasy game, which is stupid. Fox will always push Supercoach (obviously as they own it) so that seems to be where most casuals end up, and with good reason.
His comments re scaling back the NRLs digital arm aren't really filling me with confidence.
Despite the eff ups over the years, I do think that NRL Fantasy is a good product. It just needs a little bit of love to perfect it, and probably a little bit more money thrown at the dev's to iron out the bugs (and have things ready on time, etc).
(I am another who started watching 8 games a week because of fantasy, many years back)

Yeah mate. Definitely watch 5-8 of the games regularly since I started playing Fantasy. But overall, NRL doesn't really seem to know what they're doing. I doubt they'll grow the sport with current management

I think Peter Beattie was great for the game, it's a shame he was run out of it by the typical morons.

I agree, he was the only decent head there
I just look at some of the decisions they make. I get that they have a lot of competing priorities, but it really feels like they don't think things through. They're also failing to adjust to changing media consumption. This forum and Clarkey's Column are showing what the fans really want

Re: NRL Fantasy 2020 Part 2
Even if Fantasy changed nothing about the rules, they would see users drop off this year because of their continued inability to deliver a platform that works.
mtb only made his site in the first place because Fantasy couldn't provide a match centre of their own so he made one himself for us to use. For people who didn't know about his site, the game would have been very tough to play at the start of last year
The fantasy app almost never works in round 1.
That is a bigger factor in retaining users than if some bench hooker costs $100k more. Casual users wouldn't even be aware that the pricing formula has changed

Re: NRL Fantasy 2020 Part 2
Yeah 100%. I had 5 or 6 mates who used to play casually and they all stopped bothering in the last two years because the product sucked. Had nothing to do with pricing of players
