I wouldn't worry about that at all. The open bench makes it easy enough to trade up, when Koro peaks you might cash him out to a cheapie and upgrade that surplus mid range 2nd rower to a gun hooker. Or whatever.

True, very true.
This is really just a plan B at the moment if Friend becomes less appealing.

I don't see any point to deliberately ignoring some of the better value options purely because they play a certain position
For me Friend has the single most upside of any player in that he is potentially under priced by 200k+ as well as being a possible keeper available for 30k more than some of the mid range props everyone loves (Knight/Mofo/Merrin)

I have McInnes as my primary HOK. Mainly to save a trade for rd 12.
Friend, Koro, BBrailey, Grant, Mann as my other Hookers.
My primary upgrade targets from round 6 onwards would be Taumalolo, Matterson & Taupau as I'll be running a pretty cheap forward pack to start the season.

Titans Moeaki Fotuaika is currently on restricted duties at training and is yet to start any contact work as he recovers from off season wrist and knee surgeries, only outside chance to trial

But how does he get more than 50 minutes with Sam Ver on the bench.
Are you speculating more than 55 points per game for friend?

If fit, Friend is the likely Queensland origin hooker, and you think Robinson is going to have him spend 30 minutes every week on the bench?

This is a bit like years gone by where people were worried that Cam Smith would play less minutes because Brandon Smith was coming through.
I don't know what will happen, but Friend is the (co) club captain and a club stalwart

This surgery was to fix up injuries that he played through most of last season with.
To me its not a major concern, as long as he is right to start by round 1, he'll be in consideration for my team.

Really?
You guys obviously rate him a lot higher than I do. Fair points though. If you think he will play 70 - 80 each week then he is certainly a must have.

Well Walters basically said the other day that Friend will be the hooker for QLD if fit.

I don't disagree with you. QLD origin hooker stock looks pretty thin. I just assumed with Sam Ver's cook like performance last year we would be stealing some minutes.

Reserve hookers "stealing minutes" from established first graders capable of playing a full game happens a lot more in the minds of fantasy players than in reality.

With the versatility of Aubbs and Radley it does look unlikely that Verills will play week in. I think every week he'll be named in the 17 but Robinson will play his usual tactics and he'll drop out on game day. It'll be Aubbs, Butcher, Lui and either Collins or Tupouniua on the bench.

That is the ideal scenario, should help keep his ownership lower.

Tend to agree but Ryan Hall may be touch and go for round 1 - if thats the case we may get some Aubbs at centres for a couple of weeks.. unless they debut a youngster..
