If you go something like Haas to Taumalolo it allows you to do so much with the cash and get similar scores

I hope Cook gets rid of the hand brake this year & takes the line on more. I know he's not scared but as a lover of rugby league seeing a player continuously put on the hand brake every game you just shake your head & the first thought that comes into your head is...what a pussy.

The biggest problem with fan forums is they always vastly overestimate the ability of young players and their chance of beating out an established first grader to a starting spot. it can happen, but not nearly as often as forums would think.

I am not sure if S Crichton talk came from a fan forum or not - but I am still not sure who misses out to let him in our of Whare and Naden (Naden I guess, but he went OK last year)

Picking between Aubbs and Burns is going to be a tough one. I’m leaning Aubbs

Lots of talk about second rowers getting benched so I'm going to quote a Milchy post from a few weeks ago

    Milchcow wrote:
There's something that has popped up a few times, and is as crazy to me as the idea that every club is going to give all their hookers game time every week.

Some people are worried that certain players are going to get a starting edge spot, and then only play 50 minutes. It just is not going to happen

There were 768 starting 2nd rowers last year
523 of them played 80 minutes or more.
    73 played 70+ minutes
    90 played 60+ minutes

82 played less than 60 minutes
9 of those 82 were Frank Winterstein
Many of the others suffered from injury or HIA

So basically, out of all the starting 2nd rowers last year, only one of them (Frank Winterstein) regularly got low minutes.
More than 75% of them played over 70 minutes

If Johnny Edgeman gets a starting 2nd row spot, he will play big minutes every week.

You can be concerned about injury.
You can be concerned about players being dropped for form.
But if a player is regularly starting on the edge, he will regularly play big minutes.

I don't know. The kennel often refer to Adam Elliott as Adam Idiot. Sounds about right.

Do the numbers stack up, or should I just roll with the safer (and less exciting) Knight / Lawrie play?

Well if Lawrie is an option, then Merrin certainly isn't.

Personally, if Merrin is starting lock, I think I'd prefer him to Knight (I have my doubts that Knight is about to become a big minute lock)
We get to see them soon in the charity shield to make a call on who looks better

Both can go well, if Aubbs retains the starting 2RF spot, he's a no brainer...but I still say it's a big IF.
He's not the Black Widow for nothing.

Burns is a quality kid - anyone who can push GI out of his starting Centre position can play, but you have to worry about him breaking down like last year.

I'm going cheaper in the Centres and waiting to see who works. Not willing to put too much bank there.

    True that.
I'll be watching the trial vs. Knights at Maitland.
I know the players will only get 20 min runs, but we'll at least see if he's back to his former glory RE fitness levels and impact.
You reckon Knight will only stay at the same minutes as last year?

We all know how coaches stretch the truth, tell white lies & are always playing games so the opposition coaches get confused so why do we believe anything that comes out of the mouths. Like Robinson saying Crichton is Mitchell's ctr replacement or Siebold who says TPJ will play in the front row.
So in summary never believe what comes out of a coaches mouth.

Especially if that coaches name is Bennet.

Just remember that Haas didn't play in the first month of the season last year - we're yet to see how he handles heat & humidity. Round 1 in Townsville will be interesting.

True that. Will piss my pants if Angus plays right edge and Maubs plays left centre.

Knight averaged 41 minutes last year, its not like he was a bit part player.

Right now I think he will see a bit of an uptick, but until I get evidence to the contrary, I think Merrin will do better for the same price
