I just had a fiddle and I see why people are clambering for some cheapies on TLT. Look at this sheer insanity:

Smith
Haas Knight
Lolo Fifita Stimson
Moses Luai
Lomax Perham (if DPP)
Paps Aekins Kennedy
Koro Brailey Carrigan Keppie
NPRs

Aside from Luai, it really only needs 3 serviceable cheapies to be named (+NPR cows). If you were willing to trust base priced cows in the 17, it’s pretty tempting to run with something that has Smith, Haas, Lolo and Moses. Personally I don’t even like Luai in my 17 and the cheapest I’m running is Aekins, but I totally get the attraction to this model. This team makes me feel like a dangerous man! I feel so drunk with power from my fantasy forward pack, I’m going to go strangle a neighbourhood cat!

I've gone with 2 mid halves since day one and no Luai in 17. Not sure no gun half is the end of the world. Seems like plenty of solid points/$$$ options out there

If you're going to start a cheapie though, why are people so afraid to start Luai? I mean I get the whole "Cleary will be dominant" thing, but he's still a starting half, will make some run metres and tackles, he will kick even if minimally compared to Cleary. And he's talented, bound to score a try or two. Heaps of people were starting Brown and Keighran last year. I just feel like HLF is one of the BEST positions to start a cheapie in. Am I wrong?

Out of interest, who are those two mid halves? I have trouble trusting any of them bar Moses and Cleary and I can’t afford both

Yeah I have been asking myself this lately. I mean, right now I have Mann in there, is he really going to be any better than Luai for an extra 100k?

This is all true, but Garner got that crazy greater than point per minute thing going. Fifita's got several games where he plays 80 for 40 points and I am not 100% sure he is guaranteed 80.

It's a good question, the main difference is that Mann has some more data, new coach not withstanding, something like a 37 average at 5/8. Luai could indeed be Elgey 2.0, we really don't know yet, but I back him in for low 30's+ like most rookie halves.

Was Flanno and Brimson but gone AT7 and Brimson which is worrying but could be any combo. May end up changing my mind and get Cleary + cheap but really not confident with Luai in 17
