Was thinking you actually have to make sure your VC for R1 is someone who you haven’t taken out of your drafts yet still can score high as your VC and C are locked while everyone else you can use unlimited trades during R1 in case anything goes wrong

Probably means I won’t VC Taumalolo as he’s been in and out of my drafts

What do you like in Leilua? He’s fairly priced and he doesn’t mind a low score either. Risky at 500k

Great early draw, will look to impress at a new club early. May not end up being a season keeper (though I think Burns will if he stays fit becomes his floor is higher), but I think he has every chance of being one of the highest averaging centres early on. His laziness will set in later in the season as he becomes more apathetic but I may well have sold him for a premium by then, once it becomes evident who the premiums are going to be (ie. Once Latrell has blow the cobwebs out and come down in price to make this a straight trade)

I admit, it is not without its risks

Edit: just read ahead and realized people have pretty much answered exactly this

I'm amazed Burns is being talked up as a no questions asked gun on here, when he's actually an expensive punt. Yes, he loves his slapsies, and he might do well, but he's played about a dozen games in his career. At the same price, Leilua has fantasy pedigree and season after season of terrorising defences. There's also another 500k centre in Burns's own team that nobody is talking about who has a hell of a lot more fantasy pedigree, but everyone's going Burns and nobody's going Roberts - it looks like a living lecture on behavioural biases (or the Holland Effect). Guy scored over 40 three times in nine last year, never mind his injury problems. Don't let me stop you though.

    .

    Stats can say anything.

Burns scored over 40 3 times in 9 games last year (3 in 7 if you exclude injury games) and averaged 44 in games he wasn't injured

Leilua scored under 20 3 times in 9 last year, and averaged 36 in games he wasn't injured

A lot of people who are considering burns are worried about his dodgy hammies - but if he is fit his fantasy pedigree is pretty good - he has a very good floor for a centre

If you get Leilua you are basically betting on him repeating his 2016 form. But not repeating his 2015, 2017, 2018 or 2019 form, because none of those 4 years were good enough to make him valuable.

All this CTR pondering is a case of too much time not enough concrete (it is for me anyway). There is no clear cut choice and with the absence of a solid team list it's pure speculation...I will end up with the same two as everyone else

It makes taking a punt on a couple of cheapies a bit less risky I guess.

I think with so much discussion around CTR choices and the lack of cows popping up and lack of 2RF options with DPP this year I am all but cementing in Burns/Bird in one spot to partner Lomax. I think Burns/Bird will both hit around the 38-43 (possibly higher) marks and Lomax being FB and GK his floor should be pretty decent (Low 30's) and should make money until a clear cut CTR jumps out.

I get your point, but in 2018, Holland scored over 40 6 times out of 10 starts at centre and averaged 45 in the position. That is a better pedigree than Burns or Leilua

It was also assumed he'd get the goalkicking (only kicked in 1 of the above 10 games at centre)

He was even more desirable than Burns is, and given the same stats I'd pick him again in a heartbeat.

Because I will probably want to keep tinkering on Friday, I'll probably just VC the best player I have in the first game of the year (I should probably look it up to see who it is, but as of this moment I don't actually know)

    Same here.

Moses the only one I am considering, and even then I think I want Cleary instead.

From the dogs, maybe JMK at halfback if he is fit enough to start round 1.

Could always VC Carty from the early friday game

And what sort of role do you see Murray having if that is the case.
