    Couple of things noticed today.
    1. Thought Holmes was main GK whole season in 2018 but only last 5 games. 60pt avg but also 4 tries in those games. Still going to avoid for now.
    2. Mann generally decent tackle stats at 5/8 24.3 tackles 2.5 missed. Considering him

Did Rabs get banned again? haha must have missed it.

The ironic thing is, no good having an ego if there aren't others around to acknowledge it. As much as I don't mind him and enjoy his banter, he knows deep down he needs us. Who will have to brag to?

    Love the alt account.

I'd had him since day one but dropped off last week for a mixture of two reasons, despite me thinking he'll kill it and be a genuine keeper.

One, the near certainty he'll be involved with Origin was always a bit of niggle in my sac.

Two was what I could do with the extra cash if I swapped him out for Brimson, which roughly translated to being able to squeeze Drinkwater in too.

I still think he's a good option though, and if Brimson and/or Drinkwater look too sketchy this week he's probably back in.

I have Mann in my team so I can balance it decently. I don't think I've started a season in a very long time without a discount Knights spine player who turned out to be absolute dogshit so I guess it's tradition now

We really were spoiled last year with Nikora and Bateman in the centres

If Mann keeps the spot, I think he's pretty low risk and safe to have around in the early stages. Getting opportunities with Pearce there though could be an issue however.

I'm also running Horsburgh and Aekins, so with Walters I should have plenty of opportunity to blow through trades early on

Glenn not training, looks to be out of round 1.

Flegler will start prop, TPJ edge.

Regarding players pricing, does anyone know how the popularity loading works? Is it part of the week to week formula or just part of setting the initial price?

Yeah the stats can really lead you down the dark Carty path. Let me tantalise you with a summary Twisted Evil . Even ignoring his fantastic career average (49.6) playing 80 mins in the second row, last year he found 44.1 points for 80 minute games (or 42.3 for all games he started) whilst priced at 33. Say what you will about him, he looks to be good value. And then there is always the lucrative factor of getting to join the Party...

I would normally avoid someone so erratic, but his end of season form was against some cellar dwelling teams: cowboys, bulldogs, sea eagles, knights, dragons, sharks- manly the only one with grunt there, and he averaged 71.6. With the Tigers draw also fairly easy to start the season (Dragons, Knights, Bulldogs, Warriors) betting on him being a flat track bully is actually a pretty tempting shout to make.
I can see he is good value if you analyses based off of starting 2RF numbers (although Im not convinced it is value enough compared to other options). That said, surely you need to take into account the risk he gets benched, which presumably is higher than other players who present with similar value. Last year for example, out of 23 games, 11 were from interchange and those interchange appearances occurred at three different times of the year (could perhaps ignore more if they were all clumped together).

So, has anything changed re Carty? do we see him as locking down that starting role more so that last year (a lot more so?)

The new coach has swapped him to the right (his preferred side). That might be a sign that the coach has some faith in getting the best out of him. He's trained all pre-season there.

They don't have a whole lot of other options at the moment.

Just initial price (unless they have made changes from last year to this)

God hope its just part of the initial price. Seems like it was a subjective bump up or down, and my understanding it was to encourage teams not to be so similar. I.e. people are actually considering Brailey in or not as it stands, whereas with out the subjective bump, he'd be in all teams. In doing so it makes choosing the rest of the team harder and arguably making fantasy skill more relevant
