Lots of talk of 'saving trades' and 'set and forget' but unless you have a centre pairing of Mitchell & Hopoate you are having a lend of yourself. They are the only two genuine mid 40ish scorers with pedigree and job security who aren't injury prone. If you don't have them you will be using trades.
Below that there are a bunch of dudes who may or may not be viable long term options but each have their issues
Bird - was my favourite but broken
Burns - very good chance he breaks
Aubs - Dodgy job security but probably my second favourite at this stage
Scott - Good chance he gets suspended/jailed (unlikely)
Ramien/Leilua/Marsters - have performed in the past and are starting new teams but risk is high
Staggs - Great when scoring tries but not so much when not & Everyone already has too many Broncos
Suli - who the fuck knows
Below them is Lomax - has reasonable job security at FB and goal kicking. Probably will not set the world on fire but might be good for 35 also good to send back when Aekins gives way to Edwards
Then we have Watkins/Shiba etc. They will all probably be shit, but you might get lucky
Then we have Wiliame & Crichton - These guys are bench cover and you are really taking a chance having them in your 17
My conclusion was that I get Lomax and one of the maybe long term solutions (probably Aubs) and hope either I get really lucky or that I can upgrade to one of the real keepers when the inevitable happens.
