Mind games at broncos this morning. Team is training in large groups and in same colour shirts. No in starters and reserves as usual.

to be honest things are going too bad to be playing mind games with the media... more likely to me that siebold realises there isn't much point training as normal, so is mixing things up.

possibly trying to just get the group together as one and reinforce the family, fight for one another type mentality? As you say, trying something different.

Or maybe he just has NFI and isn't even assuming he knows who he wants to play?

that was my thoughts as well. 'everyone is on the same level here, and whoever puts their hand up will get picked'

Don't think the daily media attention is good for the young players though.

    So putting it all together

    Bateman 4-6 away (Details sketchy)
    Guler 8-10
    Soliola 8-12
    Horsburgh 12ish

    Is this right?

Does suggest Sutton is going to have a big role - not a lot of middles left.

Flanagan and Mann in 17 is not ideal final 17, but everyone will be making compromises and those compromises are better than many
Mann can be upgraded with out needing too much cash anyway, Flanagan too

Have you looked at the 18-21 of the other top 10 teams, Nobody has anything brimming with cash.

Don't think anyone has a good 18-21 at the moment. Too many cows popped up and then stalled immediately.

Be nice if HTF is back in the side this week but the Cows have the Roosters... maybe he should just sit this one out and come back in next week haha

I need to find some cash, the options out there are pretty grim.

I feel like a few at the top have made short term decisions to grab Teddy, Ponga, McInnes, Matterson etc at max price and it will impact them down the road. Having Luai and Mann in the 17 with no options to upgrade them is going to hurt scoring. Mann is closer to a 40 point scorer that has gotten lucky with a few tries. Luai was closer to 30 points before 2 big games, is that likely to continue or will he revert back to 30s? Add in the fact that these guys have probably max traded (I'd guess 10 trades left) they really got bailed out by the 2 bonus trades. Few injuries and they will struggle

With the extra trades there is space to get someone at that price - hope they rise a bit in cash over the next month or so and make it easier to transition to a keeper once they've made some cash.

    Sutton/Young/Butcher all in this category

If you had the money would Papali be worth a shout? surely gets bigger minutes.

Getting Teddy last week has put me firmly in this camp (except I’m nowhere near the top) and now my season will be spent hoping the injury toll is kept to a minimum.

yeah, those guys at the top will need some luck to stay there. Its still really close at the top.

If I'd had the guts to do Mann to DCE last week, I'd go from ranked 86th to 38th. Probably only takes 2-3 trades different over the course of the year, even with the same starting team, and I could have been top 10 right now.

Just needs 1-2 players to go large (or avoid 1-2 players going small) and you can make big gains in a single week

And there are a lot of teams who, if they end up winning, are going to owe a massive slice of their winnings to Lone Scout/CK for the bonus trades.

From memory you got Teddy at 817k before his 111. Waiting a week on that could have you 65k and ~60-80 points worse off depending on your replacement

Yes, Teddy's 111 was his first score for my team
Had Ponga from the start which is the cheapest he's been (so far, I guess that might be about to change)

I got RFM in early too which has been great for points per dollar

I had to wait on Pearce when he was cheapest because of injuries elsewhere, and now he's probably not going to come in.

Finally got Robson in last week - not as cheap as he could be but should still be value

Waiting on DCE cost me $12k (not terrible but the point of waiting was to save some cash) and 50 points

Guaranteed more than 50 minutes would be nice.

if I didn't get Young last week, i'd probably be tempted by Sutton this week, but I don't think he's about to become an 80 minute uber-lock

Unrealistic expectations of trade-ins is one of the biggest problems for fantasy players - and you end up stuck with a bunch of emergencies that are dropped/benched/not making money

People trade in guys for a quick $150k cash and big profits. $50k and a red dot later and their team is stuffed, and they have to wait for Lone Scout to give them bonus trades to fix their team up

    robelgordo wrote:

If you want a keeper, don’t get him.

I think he’s more of a midrange cow - a 40-45ish player priced at low 30s, same as Young last week. Give you enough points to play in 17 and hope price rises can launch you to a legit keeper in 4-5 weeks.

    Milchcow wrote:

Yeah with regards to starting lock minutes at Raiders, that was before half of them got injured so I think he'll get decent minutes. I think you're both right though, mid range cash cow, not a keeper. I'll watch again this week, get him next week if he screams keeper, but unlikely.
