Anyone interested in Sele if he starts at lock? He’d be likely to see 50mins I reckon.

He’s priced at 375k, probs 30-50k to awkwardly priced to take the punt.

Milford averaged 55 at fullback last year, but he also averaged 54 at five-eight last year so he's a wait and see at best for me.

I do prefer him as a fullback in real NRL though.

Plus he gives me the feeling he'd be one of those locks that plays 20 minutes, gets subbed off and is never seen again

    You're kidding right?

The bloke is lazy. I just do not see what people see in him as a FB! I wouldn't actually mine seeing him learn how to tackle a little and chuck on the 14 to come on as a roving lock.. At least he wouldn't get found out as much on the edges and would have players like Turpin and the middles to protect him.

Good news fantasy coaches, Harvey Norman to the rescue again! Yet another injury crisis will result in some extra trades to those that need it. Coaches will receive an extra trade this week if they have 3 injured players in their squad. If you have 4 or more injuries, you'll receive an additional two trades. Good luck all!!

The big question that will define fantasy seasons. To Haas or not to Haas

Haas, Cook, Smith, McInnes, Taumalolo and Bateman are all going to average 60+ in non injury affected games, and are all going to score 55+ most weeks which is passable for a captain. I see Taumalolo with the highest ceiling(most damaging runner) and Smith with the highest floor(80 minute every week and touches the ball more than any player in the comp). You can basically pick any one of these guys as your captain and you are going to have a similar outcome over a 25 week season.

The difference from last season is Haas didn't have his "floor" game like everyone else - Cook 29 backing up from Origin(average 64 without that game), McInnes injury affected 9(average 65 without that game), Taumalolo injury affect 17(average 64 without that game), Bateman injury affected 20(average 62 without that game), Smith 42 in one of his worst career games 7 missed tackles and a penalty(average 63 without that game)

The question that remains; can Haas keep it up
We go back to Cameron Smith's 2013 season for the last time someone managed to average 70+

Smith managed to average 70.8 in 21 games with the following incredible year:
0 injury affected games. Smith was subbed 3 times and missed a combined 15 minutes of game time the entire season. However an extra 18 minutes of game time was picked up due to golden point games
7 penalties and 8 errors from the entire season. For a player that touched the ball more than 2100 times that season and made 909 tackles those ratios are incredible
An effective tackle percentage of 96.4%. Not only was Smith making a high volume of tackles with over 43 a game, he was missing a very low volume
81 successful shots at goal, a stat category that Haas is unable to replicate

It took almost a perfect season from the best player in the world for an average above 70. Not only is Haas not close to the player Smith was, he doesn't have as many categories to score in

Personally I am in team no Haas, but I'll be watching from behind the couch every Friday night until he is in my team

Since I'm not one to shirk my thoughts I'm happy to bring this back

Now that we have reached mid-season it’s a nice time to reassess my anti-Haas plans. Based solely on total points it would appear that grabbing Haas to start the year seems like it was a no brainer. But let’s take a closer look

Player – Starting Price – Average – Current price gain/loss

    Haas – 999k(69 average) – 71.3 – Down 80k
Despite scoring a lot of points Haas has not lived up to the value expectations from preseason. While being on pace for the highest averaging fantasy season of all time, the game has changed due to faster play, more tries and high attacking stats. With a shift in the magic number meaning Haas’s starting price would be closer to a 77 average. Still can’t help but think a lot of injuries has increased him game time and saved the #teamHaas brigade in this argument

    McInnes – 900k(60 average) – 75 – Up 42k
After missing the first 2 rounds, McInnes has taken his fantasy scoring to a new level. Can he keep this up with the move to lock? Early signs suggest not with his tackle numbers down roughly 10 per game. The shift in magic number puts McInnes’s starting price closer to 69 to start the year, which still makes him significant value if he keeps it up

    Cook – 938k (62 average) – 69.3 – Down 1k
Cook had a sluggish start with 2 scores in the 40s, but has bounced back to average 75.5 since the restart. With no signs of slowing down, Cook might just be the best option the rest of the way. The shift in magic number puts Cook’s starting price closer to 72, which has him still under performing

    Smith – 907k(60 average) – 65.6) – Down 47k
Smith has been his ever consistent self, scoring in a number of categories and maintaining an incredible floor. A low of 50, a high of 85 and only 3 scores out of 10 below 60, you could have done much worse than start with Smith. Seems to be the forgotten man in the hooker conversation but will provide a nice POD in the run home. The shift in magic number puts his starting price closer to 69 average so he is not quite there yet.

    Taumalolo – 874k(58 average) – 65.7 – Down 30k
My personal favourite option to start the year, Taumalolo started the year with a bang before missing 1 week with injury and slowing his scoring down. With a high of 4 TBs in a game since round 3, will the real JT please stand up. Hopefully we see the big man reinvigorated under a new coach. The shift in magic number puts his starting price closer to 67 average.

It appears that while you can’t go wrong with any of them, starting with Taumalolo then trading to McInnes when he sat out was the best strategy for value. Long way to go yet, but with no way to predict the change in magic number, in terms of value for money on starting prices it would go McInnes(15 above), Taumalolo(7.7 above), Cook (7.3 above), Smith (5.6 above) and finally Haas (2.3 above)

Luciano has a guaranteed role in the team. Rudolf played more than 50 minutes for the first time last week.

If I had Rudolf, I'd happily play him, but trading him in right now is a massive risk
I'm not advocating trading in Rudolf. Someone was expressing regret for not trading Rudolf out earlier.

With the Panthers up against the Titans and Edwards succumbing to a hamstring complaint (only taken off due to concern of further damage) on the weekend hope he possibly gets a rest and Crichton sees time at FB.*

*Disclaimer: I am not glorifying Edwards hurting his hamstring, just stating that due to this, possibly Crichton plays FB
