Yes.
I also expected Papy to come onto the bench. Sounds like after timing, given the Teddy injury... but Brown only got about 10 minutes even with Yeo shunted to the centres. So the 4 forward rotation wasn’t needed.
There are literally players in the Qld team that might not make their club starting 13 next game and NSW got clowned.

I think this is true to a degree.
There is definitely a concept of identifying as a “Queenslander”, whereas nobody from NSW identifies that way. People tend to identify with a more local area than the state.
Probs translates into how I view the game tbh - I always think of Origin as an event more like a GF than something where I’m super invested in the result like when the Dragons are playing.
I still think mostly the team with the best players wins. Or in the case, the team with a coach won. “Getting Origin”, Origin style-players is mostly pumped up to add to the mythology

Nope. MTB just pipped me by two points. A deserving winner, but I'm happy to come runner up to him. Two QLDers at the top anyway so it's all good.

Loved yesterdays game. Was watching it with mates who kept abusing the ref but just loved that we had a close origin decider. Cant believe we lost when you look at the teams on paper. The next series is only 6 months away now! Queensland having won and getting players like ponga back vs a nsw team that'll again be much better on paper will make for a cracking series next season.
Congrats to MTB on winning the origin fantasy. Came 9th with coates in my game 3 team haha, happy with that!

I'm surprised I did so well after taking 2mins to pick a team and then not updating it after team lists changes so copping a zero from Coates.
Thanks for again for running this, MTB! Doing the lord's work!

I really enjoyed the game. Super entertaining. Dont really understand the ref bashing that I"m seeing here, but maybe that's because Im a QLD fan... in saying that, if we lost at the end, I don't think that it would change things for me.
Huge changing of the guard for the QLD team. The young forward pack really stood up. Can't believe the Lee cousins are origin winners on debut
THIS... ON FRIDAYS AND AGAIN ON SATURDAY! I am a QLD supporter and going into that game I was ready for a loss. I thought the game was very very entertaining. Players were allowed to play and not much got pulled up (except for a few stupid calls to take the play the ball back like 5cm... an every single try being taken up to Video Ref so KFC get their quota). Reffing in all 3 games was fair and I thought both teams got away with shit. Forwards and Knock-ons were only called if they were very very clear.
I have been advocating all year and all series that Harry Grant needs to be our 9. He will be the QLD Hooker for the next 10 years, chuck him in now... and see what happens when we do, he absolutely runs a muck, 20 metre bullet passes to the chest. Who needs Cameron Smith, he can go to GC, I'll have Grant any day!
I also said... imagine Fifita, Ponga and Brimson in that squad, also maybe with a fit Feldt, Carrigan another year under his belt, and 1 or 2 outside backs coming into frame next year!!! The dynasty is back BABY!!!

In the event of DCE and Munster being unavailable, who do we fancy as replacements ? Morgan, Hunt, Deardon, Fogarty or is Ponga headed into the halves similar to Locker.

I've always gone for the Blues, but have to say I thought the refereeing across the series was fair, and ultimately the most deserving team across the series won - so congrats Queensland!
Happy enough to get 2nd loser (3rd) - congrats to MTB on winning!
I temporarily swapped out Tedesco last night as a vehicle to get Angus into my 2RF, but decided it was madness - in retrospect if only I could pick upcoming HIA's!
My takeaways from the SOO series:
- The benefits of having a proven coach over a failed NRL coach (even with a better pool of players available for selection).
- The value in having Centres play in the Centre position (both defensively, and in terms of speed in attack) over make-shift Centres.
- The fatal flaw of having a 4-forward bench when you have big-minute forwards vs some backline cover.
- Cody Walker did what he was there for, but for mine Wighton is the best 5/8 available for NSW and should be playing in that position.
- I love seeing players announce themselves on the Origin stage as belonging there: well done in particular to Kurt Capewell, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, Lindsay Collins and Harry Grant.
- Finally, who would've believed Edrick would play Origin a few years ago. Not me. But acquitted himself well and has improved year on year - genuinely happy for him.
Congrats QLD, well deserved.

Maybe was amplified this year too.
Normally its 3 10-day camps with players returning to clubs in between. This time was a solid 4 weeks, perhaps longer for the guys not in the finals. So perhaps more of a chance to build a distinct culture and playing style. If so, plays into the hands of an experienced club coach.

Agree with most of these but Cody Walker went missing once again last night. I just don't think he's origin quality to be completely honest. Should've been either Wighton or Keary in the number 6 jersey and Walker at 14.
