Scoring over 1100 with 600k+ in the bank seems wrong. Gun full backs are where it’s at

This is a thing with trades becoming rarer. I got rid of Brailey this week and had traded out Watson and Laurie a couple of weeks back.Rippin and Tearin wrote:Looks to me like top ranking players gonna in part be separated depending on whether people held (and played) Brailey, Laurie, and to a lesser extent Watson - Brailey in particular. Seems to me all thees guys are passed their used by dates.
Before final updates have a score of 1134. Hope that's enough to set up well for eliminator next round.
Roll the dice.

Re: Sportsdeck VSDT 2021 Part 1
I find myself really torn on all three of these guys in all formats, but especially this one and SC. I do appreciate an argument that all three has passed their use by dates. BUT-
Brailey - which hooker is really scoring consistently better? Admittedly, the downward trend is a real worry. I have Macca and like him, and will look at Cook after Origin, but it's hard to find a lock in keeper at the position this year.
Watson - as long as he's getting minutes, he's a solid scoring DPP and hard for me to pull the trigger on, assuring myself I'm going somewhere better.
Laurie - traded him out in Fantasy this week, but his CTR positioning in this and SC makes it pretty much impossible for me to trade him out, because as a CTR he's putting up keeper numbers... well, he had been. Injury affected last week and at the hands of an absolute belting this week, but for me he's probably still a CTR keeper for the year.
How'd everyone else go in the Eliminator? Got away with a solid win and a score of 1120 which is hopefully decent, but seems to be a really high scoring round, so who knows?

Take my comments with a grain of salt because, as many know on this forum, I actually dont watch a bunch of the games and also dont really understand league that well. I'm a numbers guy, that's my day job, but I guess that gives me a bit of a unique perspective.
On Brailey - a few things. As you say, his numbers have trended down badly and so for me, that was enough to sell. But watching him lately, and a few of the games, its pretty clear to me that outside of Macca, the gun hookers for the year are going to be the ones that get the attacking stats and therefore are more likely to come from the top sides (hooker is no longer the base stat position is was). Because of that, there will be some ups and downs in their scoring, but in terms of pure hookers, I like Cook and Grant/Smith (who ever is getting the minutes at Melbourne) and then perhaps Mahoney if he comes back. The alternative that I think really works given the way the game seems to be flowing is non-hookers that you can play at hooker. I think Hunt fits that bill pretty nicely as he seems more likely to get attacking stats than most pure hookers, even playing for SG. Watson was that guy in the first half of the season.
On Watson - He has been awesome, and to be honest, I was planning on keeping him for the season. But he has fallen to the same fate as Brailey, that being the knights have gone to shit, both in terms of form, and injury. Watson is a great fantasy scorer if he is playing middle, but he gets shifted around to half and FB too much now, and he seems to be the go to guy for that at the Knights - who just seem crazy injury prone in the spine positions (Ponga, Mann, Pearce, Green).
On Laurie - Im stuck with him. Would have traded him out after the bye round if I could have, but now I dont have the trades, so am gonna hold him as a backup WFB/C. His DPP and the fact that he is a decent real life starting player might make him useful for the run home, but there are way better options out there now for this time of the season IMO.
1193 for me this week - very good week outside of a handful of slightly below average performances. Suspect a couple people break 1200 this week though. Won my eliminator by >300 lol.

I just punted some bloke from eliminator that scored just shy of 1100. That's gotta hurt.

1168 for me, my eliminator opponent had 1107. Unlucky.

DCE and Fifita pulled me away in the end to win by nearly 200 in the Eliminator. His backs that had me worried scored poorly for the most part so felt pretty comfortable going into Sunday. 1178 for the round, but it seems underwhelming compared to some of of scores I've seen

Won my eliminator comfortably and coming up against a guy similarly ranked to me. Him 84th, me 82nd.
Alot of differentials between us so will be interesting to see how it plays out in a few weeks.

Lost my Eliminator by 5 points. We both had T. Turbo in the final game of the round, but my opponent had him as captain. I needed T. Turbo to score less than 128. Heyho.
Good luck to those still alive.

won my eliminator 1114-728. I need Turbo, D. Fifita & B. Smith with 10 trades left. I think I'll target B. Smith for round 16 as the other 2 won't play round 17 & maybe round 18.

Based on money I have and limited trades, need a stop gap half. Who do I get out of Foran, Dearden and Clifford - and why?? appreciate the tips...

Dearden for me out of that lot as he plays 17, should make $, and probably most likley to score well.
But if you are going to go as high as $340k, I'd consider Walker, and perhaps Townsend as well (slightly pricier)

I've found myself in a position of more trades than I will ever use and a team of mid rangers with no money. My only hope is side way trades that generate cash unless anyone has a cash cow sure thing ?

this is me too. I am going to try to move on some of the mids in the next few weeks (Laurie for Talakai this week), but i feel like blokes like Simpkin, Stefano, LAM and even Fuimaono are going to hang around as they are hardly worth a trade to move on.

I feel this. Thankfully hadn't traded Burton yet so can hold Cleary for now. Don't even think I can justify trading players like Brailey or Avo, and Laurie is at least a good DPP reserve. TPJ is the obvious trade out, but there aren't too many putting their hands up for a trade in.
Who is everyone captaining this week? Feeling a DCE myself. VC on Tohu in case I wuss out
