Hastings gets one spot, Doueihi and Brooks fight it out for the other.

I'd assume it would be a depth signing only and he wouldn't play first grade.

He's had a few stints in NRL and hasn't shown he is a clear starter

    Agree, potentially bench utility role.

If the signing has happened and he packs up and ships out to Australia straight away, he wouldnt even begin training with the team until early March

Have you seen the other winners of Man of Steel?

How many have of them have gone on to have useful NRL careers? It is not a predictor of anything

From what I remember is that Hastings had some attitude issues and rubbed other players the wrong way. He ended up on the outer and left to play at SL.
I don't think he was a bad player... just a bad team player. Not sure if his attitude has changed.

After quarantine you'd think he'd barely have started training for round one. If he's even signed, two minutes after the first rumour. But yeah, sure starter at 6. Even better, an 80-minute scooting 9 with goalkicking!

I don't think he was a bad player... just a bad team player. Not sure if his attitude has changed.
It was more he stood up for himself when DCE bullied him and DCE didn't like it.

Asked whether the Sea Eagles squad had made it clear they don't want to play with Hastings for the remainder of the season, winger Brad Parker stressed: "That's not true. No, that's not true.

"[Coach] Baz [Trent Barrett] has talked to us and it's not up to the playing [group] whatsoever, it's all up to Baz. He's talked about it and it's his decision. We've talked about it and all we can do is play our best footy individually and as a team.

"I like Jackson, everyone likes Jackson, he's a good kid. I'm not going to talk about it too much more."

It was a sentiment quickly supported by Addin Fonua-Blake.

"That's definitely not the case [Hastings team-mates asked not to play with him]," Fonua-Blake said.

"We're all mates with Jackson and it's unfortunate what happened to him. He's a good bloke. To me, he's a good bloke. I can't speak on behalf of anyone else, [but] I've found him really good and it's unfortunate what happened to him."

He is surely better quality than a depth signing. Appears to have had a few attitude adjusting moments. I dont think he will set world on fire but expect him to be good enough to start in a shitty team like the tigers.

Super coach bennet had him starting ahead of George Williams in the recent internationals from memory. Id say Williams has proven he is NRL worthy.

    THIS

Won't be there R1, but I think he'll get an extended run in the halves. He was better than George Williams in ESL. Play for England (or GB, hard to kept up) ahead of Williams. He will get a chance.

I've had a look and James Graham, Jamie Lyon, Gavin Miller, Ellery Hanley, Dean Bell, Martin Offiah and Garry Schofield.

I'm old enough to remember all these players...

You beat me too it Milchy - having that title means very little in the NRL there is no way he is a better player than Adam Doueihi or Brooks for that matter can’t see him getting a look in myself.People need to remember that coach’s don’t care about Fantasy football.

Got it, Just start with the right team, and pick all the good PODs (not the bad ones). Too easy...

    Hastings is in Australia https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/news/how-quarantine-conversations-helped-wigan-warriors-coach-adrian-lam-connect-with-jackson-hastings/ar-BB1dwhXx

Lock him in for the 6 jersey in round 1 (or the 7 jersey if they want to send Brooks a message).

Yeah it's an uninspiring pick isn't it? He's in my team currently, I'm hoping he's not another Levi. He's four points unders from his interchange games last year. Taking those out, he averaged 230km per game vs 305 the year before. It's not just kms though, Benji dominated playmaking in a way that I don't think Douehi will, so a few points bump in attacking stats is reasonable, he did it as recently as the year before. I'm expecting him to push towards 50, but if I need the cash, Milford, Morgan, CHT are all options I guess.

    If you're keen on cherry-picking, then he can be very inspiring: last 6 games in 2019 he scored 64, 61, 56, 95, 85, 69 for a 6 game average of 72

I recall owning him for that run (which offset a few flops, and helped in finals) and that makes it a bit tempting (might be a dopamine thing!).

But one good run in amongst nearly 150 games of mediocrity, probably suggests there's better spots for the money - still, I am prone to a bit of sentimentality.

For mine, he's still in the broader mix (I don't think he'll lose money, and should make some), but really I hope to have options with better/clearer upside

    MattZN is right about injury.

But even so - this is what folks mean by cherry-picking stats. People get injured and have short games due to HIA - you shouldn't dis-include those points from the sample as they are likely to happen again. Sure, if they are played back in to manage an injury over a period of many weeks then make adjustment for that.

Sure, a player may have fewer injuries/HIAs this year. They might have more too. Using as big a sample size as possible will (all else equal) move you closer to a representative sample.

Well that is my point his large sample size for yhe season is close to 54 points than his injury affected season. Beyond that any player can cop a bad knock.
