Good analysis, if Simpkins is on the bench I'll definitely be more interested in Twal. Although looking back Brooks/Liddle were on the bench for several of the games where Twal didn't play huge lock minutes. I guess the difference is Eisenhuth was still playing big minutes too?
Liddle has never played 80 minutes. They will need either a specialist hooker or utility on the bench for him.

Only players who didnt play more than 12 games of nrl allowed to play. Looks like weve named everyone we can under those restrictions. There were more named but i cut it off at 17 because who cares

    1. Reece Walsh
    2. Richie Kennar
    3. Jesse Arthars
    4. Tesi Niu
    5. Dale Copley
    6. Tyson Gamble
    7. Albert Kelly
    8. Tevita Pangai Jnr
    9. Kobe Hetherington
    10. Matt Lodge
    11. Keenan Palasia
    12. Leivaha Pulu
    13. Ethan Bullemor
    14 Calum Gahan
    15. Logan Bayliss-Brow
    16. Isaiah Taas
    17. Josh James

Fantasy aside I'm keen to watch Walsh play. Saw him play with Sam Walker in the junior aussies vs kiwis last year and he killed it at the back. Fantasy goggles on it will be interesting to see how Tese Niu goes at centre. Hope to see him get his hands on the ball alot.

He's a pretty garbo fantasy player. I wouldn't unless maybe trial form indicated he'd play 60 minutes and tackled a lot.

At his price, you would imagine 50 minutes would be enough. He is a good defender. Base stats alone (which is all that I would expect) would see him perform as a cow to be upgraded when he peaked.

Id be concerned about his ability to crack 30 in 50 mins.

Im also concerned he may not keep his spot in the starting side

Never say never but i think ill avoid in favour of other options

    Fails the shit player test

Cust and Schuster are both better footballers so could lose the spot at any time

Schuster has made comments that indicate he is only interested in playing number 6.

Croker will start for the first 2 weeks and then Des will wonder what the fuck he was thinking and he'll be back to the bench.

Davey! I’m playing him as one of my Edge players. I don’t see the love for Lodge. He’s a wait for TLT.

Why not? Been said both Haas and Carrigans minutes will be dropped. Lodge has shown plenty in previous, if he gets 45/50 minutes will be great value

With substitution rotation, every team is pretty much required to either have a big minute hooker, big minute middle, or end the game with a different line up than you start with.

Assuming that every team starts and wants to finish with best 13:

    Sub 1 - Mid 1 off - Mid 4 on
    Sub 2 - Mid 2 off - Mid 5 on
    Sub 3 - Mid 3/Hook off - Mid 6/Utility1 on
    Sub 4 - Mid 4 off - Mid 1 on
    Sub 5 - Mid 5 off - Mid 2 on
    Sub 6 - Mid 6/Utility1 - Mid 3/Hook on
    Sub 7 - Edge 1 off - Edge 3 on
    Sub 8 - Injury cover

Of course HIA and injuries mess up the rotation pretty much every week, but most coaches rely on either hooker or lock to play the big minutes. Few exceptions like Haas but it's generally the guy in 9 or 13

Madge has confirmed that both Liddle and Simpkins will spend time at hooker this year, leaving me to believe Simpkins will be on the bench as 14 from the start. This means one of Twal, Tamou and Ofa will play bulk minutes. Based on what we have seen in their careers I would say Twal is most likely

Great post, I would also add that whilst they've signed Tamou, Offa, utoipamanu, they've also lost Aloiai, Eisenhuth, Taylor, Clark, Lawrence, McIntyre, McQueen (yes some were fringe but Aloiai, Eisenhuth and Taylor played a fair chunk of minutes). Certainly not guartanteed but a reasonably good chance Twal goes back to bulk minutes at lock. JFH has appeal too. Both coming into their prime years at ages 24 and 25.

TPJ at prop looks good for one of Oates / Riki

How are we to read the exclusion of Riki in this squad? I haven't looked at him yet as and option as I just don't see him getting a starting spot, but if he's not playing does that mean he has a definite spot in the team already and they're 100% sure what they're going to be doing with him? Sorry for being daft, just not sure how to read these trail team lists.

Think I'd rather the injury prone 300k hooker that's actually a hooker than the injury prone 300k hooker who's only pretending. I guess you could have both?
