Happy to chime in here and there including pre-season & during season
Though I have no idea who'd I select for some positions in pre-season if we went with same system as previous years

Re: Community Team 2021
About this time last year, we were wrestling with a few team selection questions:
- should we only pick from run-on sides, top 17 named, or top 21 squads?
- should we ensure cover of all positions on the bench?
- should we run with a 50 point selection process (1-5 for each player), or some other mechanism?
although we didn't fare so well last year, we could just to run with the same approach - top 17, just pick the best players irrespective of bench cover, and use the same 50 point selection process.
For me, I like the idea of having cover of all positions on the bench, but it might be easiest just to let it run and see how the team is picked. on the top 17 criteria, I guess there could be interest in players who are or might be out round 1 (Haas, Ponga, Doueihi, Norman, Milford, Croker, SJ, Radley? - not sure who else?). but i'm not sure I could make a compelling case for any of those to start the season anyway.

Happy to contribute some left field ideas again, they may not receive enough votes, but can at least provide an alternative perspective.

Re: Community Team 2021
I would love it if we could keep 1 spot spare for a mid ranger MID in the 500-700k range that can elevate to gun level this season.
We could all vote from a list of potential sub gun pods in that position. Just like every year, someone will make the jump from mid ranger to gun, even if the initial selection isn't the person we end up with after 2-3 rounds, having the team structure to fit them in is important.
If we just go for guns and cows throughout, as is likely to happen, based on popular voting, cows won't be tradeable and we won't trade out guns either, so wil miss really valuable opportunities that can set us up for the season, with a keeper at a discount.
The reason I am keen to make the spot a MID is that the regular guns all have question marks on their minutes or are injured, and I can see a lot of hidden value potential in that position, where a number of guys could easily step up to around 60 points average.

Re: Community Team 2021
We can start a poll for specific team build but I agree with covering all positions. I also think only grabbing players named Round 1 otherwise it just complicates thw team scheme even more.

Happy to be heavily involved once again
Think we should run similar to last year with each person submitting a squad post TLT and ranking all players 1-5 (max 50). As long as we keep in mind cap compliance this should see the must have cows like Brailey/Watson/Davey take centre stage

There are going to be so many popular cows this season, it is likely that the most popular team is under cap.multiple.scoregasms wrote:Happy to be heavily involved once again

The previous 2 years its always been the most popular cap compliant team, rather than most popular team.
I'm happy to run it that way again, it worked really well in 2019.
Starting team isn't as important as getting trades right anyway. We started with Lomax last year but then traded him out after 1 round (to Kallum Watkins who got injured straight away)
We were really close to picking Cleary over Moses
Neither of those decisions will change with slightly different methods of picking the starting team.

Re: Community Team 2021
One thing we might want to do is enforce cover.
Last year we ran without CTR/WFB cover, and it didn't help, especially as CTRs started going down

Not a fantasy season without the community team. Like mlich said, I'd like to have cover this time round.

Fanatics are there as a celebrity team to be added, so better get cracking on the planning to make sure we are as best as we can be

Re: Community Team 2021
In the absence of other alternatives, will we do the traditional vote for 21 players, ranked 1-5 in desirability?
Main question is if we force any selection rules around starting only, top 17 only, and if we ensure cover in every position.
I am not sure there are any players not named in round 1 that will be popular enough to get voted in anyway, but whether or not we make sure we have voer can make a difference
No CTR cover last year and it didn't help, as we kept losing CTRs

Shall we start filling by using the nailed on selections
Liddle/Simpkins (R1 starter) use most expensive option as offers more cap space if simpkins starts
Watson
Brailey
Riki
Averillo somewhere in 21

Wouldn't have Brailey or Averillo as guaranteed, happy with the others.Welshy wrote:

If TLT has Turpin with no Paix, he is a far better option than Brailey for not much more and can only have so many hookers in the side.
Crossland on the bench would put a spanner in the works for Brailey also.

Turpin will have same worries as Brailey and already more expensive mate
Averillo is that cheap and in a position where points are easy to come by I don't think you can leave him out
