Final team has to be cap-compliant of course, so its worth putting high numbers next to must-have cows as well as guns.

This is the go and a new thread should be started for us all to post/vote in. An end by date needs to be advised so the team can be sorted with time for captain to be voted on.

Re: Community Team 2021
Is it worth having 2 rounds, one pre-TLT just to get a placeholder team and another post-TLT, when we will get to understand actual team make ups which is really important

Re: Community Team 2021
last year, Milchy gave everyone until 9pm Wednesday after TLT for people to adjust their lineups based on team lists. Might just mean a series of quick votes on Thursday re captain, starting lineups, 14-17, to set the team for round 1.
I'll start a new thread for team votes and copy the instructions from last year across.

Last year Milchy figured out the cap compliant team with the most votes. If there are high numbers for Cleary, Cook, Teddy it would be hard to also fit in some mid rangers
Last year, both Moses and Cleary were popular. Only one could fit in, and Moses won out.
Cleary, despite getting multiple votes, was discarded in favour of less popular but cheaper players. From memonry he was the most popular player not to make the 21.
Something similar could happen here, so if you want to vote for Cleary, Cook, Teddy + Crichton as I think a fewteams will have. make sure you prioritise them how you want, as they might not all make it.
I don't personally make the decisions on who gets in. The excel solver algorithm does that. Picks the most popular team it can that fulfills cap requirements.

I am more than happy for people to submit teams now, so we can get an idea of what sort of team we want, and let them change them again after TLT.
Need a wednesday deadline so i can put everything into the sheet and get it calculated, but still have time to finalise my own personal team.

Sorry, I’m a bit confused. Do I just put my own team (so I know it’s cap compliant), or the Wag’s, then put the 1-5 next to each (not to exceed 50). Is that it?

Re: Community Team 2021
Doesn't need to match your own team. Your picks for community team may be quite different to your own. I know mine will be very different, as voting for most of my PODs would be a wasted vote, so better to influence towards the better of the popular picks. The Pascoe Fiasco wrote:Sorry, I’m a bit confused. I guess if you wanted to change a few around it would be best to be cap compliant
This sounds like a goer.

If there is a toss up between 2 players, sometimes people choose the other one for their community team vote. Eg Host for their own team, Lawrie for community vote.
We are trying to utilise the 'wisdom of the crowd' to generate the ideal team. But that only works if everyone makes their votes independently and doesn't base their decision on everyone else's votes
Which strictly speaking isn't going to happen, because even if you don't look directly at other votes, you know which players people are interested in due to the main forum discussion.
Most people take it seriously. Mattnz is the only one who tries to game the system by allocating 5 votes to all his crazy pods that nobody else is interested in. If there are enough people voting then no 1 person can influence results too much, and mattnz can't slip someone into the team if they weren't already popular anyway
But as an example. Connor Watson is clearly first pick for just about everyone on the site. If he starts at lock there is no way anyone would even briefly consider running a team without him. If you submit votes rating Watson a 1 out of 5 (or leave him out completely), because you assume he's obviously going to get picked anyway then you are going against the spirit of what this team is about

I dont end up voting for crazy PODs in this, normally my votes end up going to sort out either anomolies like Watson missing the cut, or to ensure the right popular players get selected.Milchcow wrote:

The "right" popular players are the ones that get selected. Not the ones that you decide get selected.
Why would others be encouraged to have their say, if your stated aim is to remove any players of theirs that you deem unworthy

No, my stated aim is to influence tight decisions if someone appears to be a better pick than another player. To be in the mix, a significant proportion of others here have also deemed them to be selection worthy.Milchcow wrote:

Quite arrogant to try to influence the team selection rather than just use your votes in the same way as everyone else, especially considering your previous rankings.mattnz wrote:

I'll try to get mine up later today to limit your influence as best I can.

My starting teams have been great. Top 200 after 2 rounds in 2 of the last 3 years, can you match that?Krump wrote:
