Ieremia has won the wing position for this trial game, but Ponissi said the race to fill the departed Suliasi Vunivalu’s vacant wing spot was still up for grabs.

“The right wing is without a shadow of a doubt the most competitive position in the team,” he said.

“There are four playing vying for it along with Dean.

“There’s Isaac Lumelume and George Jennings and Reimis Smith, who are going to put their hands up as well.

“Dean has just edged his nose in front of the others for this game, but there’s nothing in it and it’s extremely competitive for Round 1.”

Looks to be his spot if playing well, with his nose just in front of the other candidates.

i think if Brenko Lee is fit then Reimiss Smith gets the wing spot. Ieremia look slik ehe might be next in line though

Smith moving to hooker likely most impacts the other middles. Liking what it does for NAS, if he starts again at TLT. Welch could play the Smith role off the bench.

Welch is their biggest minute prop, but ok.

Smith was averaging 50 minutes off the bench. Welch averaged 50 minutes as starting prop (excluding 2 low minute games that I assume he was injured in). Either way, if NAS picks up a 50 minute role, look out!

Welsh is pretty much their #1 forward now when fit. It's possible NAS starts but he'll still be doing shorter impact stints and Welch will be in no way replacing BS9's role. Probably nobody will. Bench would likely be Hynes (utility/spark), Kamikamica (Tino's successor), NAS (NAS) and then he'll elevate some cover guy like King or Eisenhuth or whoever. If the fourth guy is shorter minutes then I suppose NAS could benefit but it would more likely be Welch picking up the slack imo because he has the motor.

Just finished watching it, Allan looked very solid as did Hopoate and Cotric.

Hetherington went very well, Waddell was shithouse.

Renouf Atoni so powerful off the bench.

For the Sharks Kennedy had 2 try assists. Moylan didn’t do much I thought in regards to fantasy he was very quiet.

Also watched the Titans game. Tino was so busy and what a try, I’m tempted by him again... maybe he keeps finding a way to keep the attacking stats up. David Fifita was very good I thought played 60mins.

Kelly a couple of good things but a bit quiet. I notice some said Fog was great, I thought he was solid but probs didn’t score that well for fantasy.

For the Warriors Tohu was good but a few errors. RTS pretty quiet overall. BMM very good but didn’t play big minutes.

Ah Mau probs got 25-30mins. If that’s all he gets round 1 he’s not worth it.... anyone else concerned re Ah Mau now??

    Shame about Egan....

What about AFB? He apparently played 60 mins? Was that only because of Egan’s injury or this expected of him?

Who knows? It wasn't like they had no other forwards on an extended bench. (Ah Mau, Afoa, Murchie, BMM, Evans, Tevaga). He was very good either way.

If ever, I think the time to buy Latrell is after round three when he's scored 12 against the Storm, 40 against Manly and 16 against the Roosters, but before he tons up against the Bulldogs and the Broncos. Could be a straight swap for Hoy all being well.

(I'm sort of joking but only sort of)

Murchie was also injured. Jazz looked gassed from playing hooker.
