Dont think there is any less competition for Leniu, he is surrounded by big minute middles.
    Looking like:
    Yeo 60-80
    JFH 50-70
    Leota 40

Martin 20 in the middle, takes that from either Yeo or JFH each week when Kikau comes back on, as Cleary has implied
Eisenhuth 30+ - averaged 58 minutes last season
Leniu - maybe 20-30 if he is lucky and they only play both Yeo and JFH 60 each, which screws up the interchanges, with Kikau needing 2 as well

Really hard to find decent minutes for Leniu

Leniu is an ultra talented youngster, who is quite frankly a better player than both Leota and Eisenhuth. Martin spending some time in the middle does muddy the water a little but Leniu will be a key part of the rotation this year. Granted minutes may be low for the first few weeks which will make him a slow burn, but I expect he will not only be the starter by end of year, he will be in the conversation for rep teams

For someone who said he hates supposition you've got a lot of "ifs" going on there.

Most of those ifs gave Leniu more minutes, not less, was his best case scenario. Less minutes this season for JFH, Yeo and Eisenhuth, so he gets 20-30 minutes of game time.

I see Turpin like Robson in middle of last year

Might have no bench HOK come R1, but I don't think you can ever be sure it'll be the same bench configuration week to week and his scores will be like a rollercoaster if you end up with the bad case scenario

I'm keen on Turpin but I don't think he scores as well as people think, if he does play 80. He goes 100 miles an hour and those extra 20 mins will see his scoring taper off and missed tackles pile up. He does need to pace himself a little better, but the best part of his game is his aggression. He is definitely better suited to playing 50 ish mins at this stage. It's a huge year for him, his career is somewhat at a crossroads.

We will likely have a utility (of some sort) on the bench in round 1 anyway so it will probably be unclear as to how they'll play him.

FYI walters on Dearden/Croft, not giving much away, which has been his stance all pre season -

“I am looking at different combinations at my training sessions and I will make a final decision next week. Tom and Brodie are neck and neck at this stage. Tom did some good things in the trial last week but Brodie was also very good so I have a tough decision to make. It’s a good headache to have because you want players competing for positions.”

    Here's my latest hooker draft:

    Turpin
    Crichton, Watson, BSmith
    DFifita, Riki
    Cleary (c), Lam
    Kelly Marsters
    Tedesco, RTS, Hoy

    Brailey, Davey, Liddle, Leniu

    Croker, Simpkin, Young, Laurie

Chose BSmith over Tino so I can have a look. Expect 55's from Smith initially whereas not sure on Tino hitting those highs.
Centres could be anyone. Gone off averillo a little.
Knights opening draw is favourable and expect Hoy to score OK.
Gone with Lam as don't expect him to miss many tackles. Should score around 45ish I'm hoping.

Good to see the return of League 51... last year it reverted back to L5 which was probably appropriate with 2020 not having much to party about...
There is a high probability that I'll be back in L51 next season together with my GIF buddies.... Code Delta... Honeysett... No Worries.... Milchy....and all the other lads... you know who you are.

    .

No disrespect, but his best case scenario is that he ends up a starting Prop over Leota (not that I'm saying this will happen, but, if we're talking best case scenarios).
You're opinions are interesting, but unless you've landed the assistant coach job at the Panthers, then they're just your opinion rather than locked-in facts.

As a Tigers fan who has watched every one of Eisenhuths 70 first grade games, you're opinion of his first grade ability is in my opinion a bit over-stated.

I like him as a player (mostly in that he's big on effort), but he's the guy that fills in adequately when other players are out/injured/returning from injury.
He's a great fantasy player (when getting good minutes) but not as great IRL.
Unless something changes at the Panthers, he's not particularly potent with gaining metres, and while he is keen in defence, his misreads and lapses in the defensive line seem to often be costly.
They're not a problem for fantasy scores, but not great in terms of winning matches (although I'd never doubt him for giving 100%).

I'll put it to you like this, given the role of Middle players, as a coach which looks more advantageous to your team:

    96.9% effective tackle rate
3.1MG per minute on the field
4.8TB per 80 minutes of football

    94.5% effective tackle rate
1.7MG per minute on the field
0.8TB per 80 minutes of football
0.37 errors per 80 minutes of football

I think you can guess which is which. Eisenhuth has more experience, but Leniu looks far more likely to be the player that's going to have a positive impact in the middle.

    Fifita Riki

    CLEARY Fogarty

    Averillo Bird

    Isaako Teddy Paps

I agree with easytiger's assessment of Eisenhuth. He is a better fantasy player than real life player.

Good for getting through tackles and hitups, which certainly can be useful, but is not going to win you lots of games.

He may of filled in at hooker a couple of times last year but that isn't the 'role' he played consistently.

They had 26 players and about 4 different hookers in the trial...
